Mineola Memorial Library Notes

The normal thing about July is that it is hot and humid! The not normal is the lack of programming at the library.

To compensate for the lack of programming, we have been placing “Grab and Go” bags on the bench under the tree in front of the library. These are taking the place of summer reading programs. New bags go out on Wednesdays and last until they run out. Limited supply. Each week is something different. Money Camp was held virtually this year or by working through packets to submit. Everyone has had to adjust.

Library hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. We ask that you spend no more than one hour in the library per day. This allows everyone an opportunity to visit. We are requiring masks, like so many other businesses in town. Curbside is available, just call the library and ask at 903-569-2767.

We are still making small changes within the library. We are working on painting the walls. We are up to the part where we have to move shelves, so that may take longer. The vintage venetian blinds have been removed and some window treatments have replaced them.

The census is still going on. If you haven’t taken the time to fill out your census you still have time. It takes about 15 minutes or less depending on the size of your family or the number of residents in your home. It is important to be counted not only for history of how many people were in the county or city at a particular time but also for things like funding. Some funding depends on the number of people in an area.

Please, put on a mask and come visit us. We continue to receive new books for you to borrow. We still have computers available although not as many as before. Our friendly staff is still here, and the air conditioner is working. We hope to see you soon.

Mineola Memorial Library continues to clean and follow CDC guidelines in keeping the library a clean and pleasant place to visit. Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit.
