We have elections in November, and the last day to register to vote is coming up soon. With this in mind, we will have someone available on Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. to assist with registering voters and answering questions as we are able. If you need to register to vote, consider stopping by and picking up a registration form to mail in or visiting on Sept. 22. Deadline to register to vote for the November election is Oct. 5.

Mocha Girls Read book club is reading “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot. This is a book club based out of California and they may be found on the internet at www.mochagirlsread.com.

East Texas Library Friends Book Club will be reading “The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell” by Robert Dugoni. You can find this group on line at goodreads.com and search for the group East Texas Library Friends. They will discuss this book on Oct. 31.

Grab and Go activities are on a bench in front of the library and contain activities for children/families to do together. These are in limited supply and are placed out front on Wednesday morning, weather permitting.

The library hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Curbside continues to be offered during these operating hours. WiFi is available seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. each day.

We continue to monitor the active virus statistics for the county and Mineola as well as monitor the school. We hope if the numbers continue to remain low to resume normal hours at a later time. In the meantime, we continue to clean.

We ask our patrons to wear masks, limit visits to no more than one hour per day, and if you are not feeling well, stay home. If you have items out and become ill, please call the library and we can extend the due date. If you are not comfortable coming inside or it’s just too hot to get out, please use our curbside service. The WiFi is available and is accessible from the comfort of your vehicle.

We welcome monetary donations but cannot accept physical items (books or movies) at this time. The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations are tax deductible.
