We made it to the end of the year! I don’t know about you, but the past year has seemed to be extra-long.

We thank you all for your patience while we completed the flooring. We think it looks nice, and if you have not gotten a chance to see it, please, stop by.

We will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23 and reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 29 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. then close again on Thursday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. and reopen the first Tuesday of the New Year at 9 a.m. If we all stay healthy and nothing happens, we will not take another holiday until the end of May.

In spite of the pandemic, we have still been able to serve our community with materials to check out and activities to take home and complete. We’ve added 210 new patrons to the library and have over 4,000 active patrons. The library has been visited over 8,000 times and we have circulated about 22,000 items. We think this is pretty good considering how we have all had to adjust to circumstances due to the pandemic.

We ask you to continue to wear a mask when you visit and to stay home if you are not feeling well. We ask you to maintain your distance and to limit your visit to the library to an hour or less. We will continue to clean the computers after each use, wipe down with disinfectant wipes materials returned and place them in quarantine before re-shelving and wipe down frequently touched areas often.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to visit the Mineola Memorial Library and has helped us to continue to serve the community. The library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations are tax-deductible.

Have a safe and Happy New Year!
