Can you believe February is almost over? We are even beginning to plan our Summer Reading Program. Wow.

Thank you to all who participated in the CNB Bake Sale benefiting the Mineola Memorial Library. Your donations help us to keep doing what we do. Thank you to CNB Bank in Mineola for hosting this sale for us.

We recently lost one of our long-time board members, Jeanene Upton. She is sorely missed. If you remember Jeanene, please, consider making a memorial donation to the library in her memory.

We are finishing up a grant from the American Library Association’s Libraries Transform Communities. With some of the funds, we have purchased many books to help diversify our collections. These books feature a variety of authors and covers and subjects. We’ve added the large print edition of the 1619 Project and the graphic novels about John Lewis titled March as well as a variety of others.

We also received a grant from the Dorothy Louise Kyler Foundation and have used that money to replace some of our well-worn children’s books and to enhance our collections for children and young adults.

We will no longer be offering Axis 360 eBooks for our patrons. We do still offer Simply E and F reading.

We continue to offer Toddler Story Time on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. This is a program for parents and their children to spend time together hearing a story or two, making a craft or playing a game and playing together. This program is focused on the 18-month to three-year-old child.

The library will participate in the East Texas Giving Day on April 26. This is a day for many non-profits to raise awareness of their purpose and needs and to seek donations. We will keep you posted as this event draws near. This year’s focus at the library will be to begin upgrading our technology, prepare for Summer Reading and to landscape the property.

The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax-deductible.
