I believe Spring has finally sprung. Hope everyone is doing well in spite of all the pollen floating around in the air. The Mineola Memorial Library has many books on gardening that might be of interest to you at this time of year.

East Texas Giving Day will be Tuesday, April 26. This is a day where you can donate to participating groups through the East Texas Giving Day site. Minimum donation is $10. We hope you will give to the Mineola Memorial Library.

The website is easttexasgivingday.org/mineolamemoriallibrarytexas and while you are there, you might find another group you wish to support as well.

The library is wanting to upgrade some of our technology this year which includes replacing staff computers with all-in-one computers, newer monitors on the computer access stations in the short-term with all-in-one stations for the long term. At a cost of approximately $500 just for the computer this will be a process and we hope you will help the library.

We are working toward getting that started along with the Summer Reading Event which includes weekly activities for participants and rewards along the way for effort. Finally, we have a landscaping project that has some funding but may need a little to finish the project.

Your donations to all of these efforts will be gratefully accepted and appreciated. East Texas Giving Day is one way to donate. You may also leave monetary donation at the library or mail them to 301 N. Pacific, Mineola TX 75773. Or consider shopping one of the Friends of the Library book sales as those proceeds will be used to help with the technology upgrades this year.

The Friends of the Mineola Memorial Library surprised the staff during Library Week with lunch. It was a very welcome treat and we all enjoyed it very much.

The library will be open regular hours all of this month. We do not get another holiday closure until the end of May.

First grade from Mineola Primary School will visit the library on Friday, April 22. We look forward to having them as our guests and showing the library to them. Hopefully, many will continue to return to the library and enjoy all that it has to offer.

The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit. We are not a city or county department. Your donations to the library may be tax-deductible and are always appreciated. The library has received a memorial donation for Jeanene Upton from Tim and Glenda Cagle.
