Happy New Year! Here’s looking forward to a very happy and enjoyable 2023.

Library programs resumed on Jan. 3 with the Toddler Story Time, Book It Crafts with Books and First Tuesday After School Club followed on Wednesday by Preschool Story Time.

The Friends will meet at noon at Cafe U for their first meeting of the year, and in the following months will meet on the second Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m. in the library.

Here’s a few statistics about 2022 in the library. As of December 30 at 10 a.m., we had circulated 27,291 items which include books, audio books and movies. Estimation on magazines and newspapers read in the library were 4,575, and that’s a best guess with six newspapers and 22 magazines and the library open 52 weeks a year. We offered 184 programs at the library and as outreach. In-person computer usage was 176 sessions and WiFi sessions numbered 7,754. Overall, use of the library is valued over $565,000. That’s pretty good for our little library and it’s staff of seven.

If you have an idea about something you would like to have the library offer, please let us know. We do our best to offer a variety of materials and programs. It helps to have some input as to what is successful, what needs improvement and what is of interest.

Please stop by the Mineola Memorial Library. We are open five days a week. The WiFi is available seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily. We offer curbside service for your convenience during operating hours. We hope to see you often in 2023.

Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax-deductible.
