Mineola Memorial Library Notes

Thank you to all who donated during the East Texas Giving Day campaign. Your support means a lot to the Mineola Memorial Library.

Another big thank you goes to the staff and our volunteers who made it possible for two of us to attend the Texas Library Association’s Annual Conference in Austin. We had a good time networking with vendors and friends and learning new things while getting validation on some of our other efforts.

Cafe U hosted a non-profit event on Saturday, April 22, and two of our board members were able to staff a booth. Everyone had fun learning about the library and other non-profits. Thank you to those volunteers for taking on that event and Cafe U for hosting.

Thank you to the students in the FFA program at Mineola High School.  They came out on Saturday, April 22 and cleaned out our flower beds.  They weeded our lantana beds and cleaned leaves out of our holly bed.

Thank you to our patrons who use the library by accessing the WiFi, the public computers, the programs and borrowing items. We are here for you.

Thank you to those who don’t always get thanked. The Wood County Monitor for giving us a space to tell about our library and KMOO for giving us a spot once a month to talk about upcoming events.

Thank you to our garbage men who always pick up our trash.

Thank you to our letter carrier and other delivery agencies who bring us supplies and other correspondence.

This column has ended up being a column of appreciation. The Mineola Memorial Library could not do what we do without the support of the community.

Please stop by the library. We offer Toddler Time for 18 month to 3 year olds and their parent/caregiver on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m., Preschool Time on Wednesday at 10 a.m. for 3-5 year olds and their parent/caregiver, East Texas Library Friends Book Club that will meet again in May, American Girls Historical Reading Club on the second Saturday for girls 7 and older with their mother (registration required.)

Our hours are Tuesday 9-6, Wednesday 9-5:30, Thursday 9-6, Friday 9-4, Saturday 9-3, then we’re closed on Sunday and Monday, but the WiFi is still available as are the book drops on the front porch for returns.

The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donation may be tax-deductible.
