Mineola Metric 100 bicycle ride on tap Saturday
Mineola’s Nature Preserve and the rolling green hills of the surrounding countryside will be on display Saturday during the Mineola Metric 100 bicycle ride.
Riders can choose among five rides – from 100 kilometers to rides of 51 miles, 41 miles, 26 miles or 17 miles. All rides begin and end at the Mineola Nature Preserve with plenty of beautiful scenery in between. Sections of the rides will include woodlands, fields dotted with colorful spring wildflowers, vineyards, farms and ranches.
Starting times for rides are 8:30 a.m. through 8:50 a.m. Rider packets may be picked up Friday evening from 5 – 9 p.m. at Grand Oaks Winery, 2455 County Road 2724, or at the Nature Preserve on Saturday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. Snacks, drinks and water will be available along the trails every seven or eight miles.
The cost to register online is $40 or $50 the day of the race. Registration for tandem riders is $60. Proceeds from the event will benefit the East Texas Food Bank and the American Diabetes Association.
