Don and Margaret Lay have hosted a block party on Pamela Drive for 18 years. Mr. Lay was in the police reserve for 11 years before retiring and has a deep appreciation for first responders. Year after year, they have a great turn-out. Neighbors lined up, along with those they were honoring, for the delicious barbecue prepared by the Lays.

Linda Martin has lived on Spring Lake for 22 years and has hosted a block party for five years. She likes that the police ride by and check on her often and enjoys giving back to them.

“I always feel safe. This is a wonderful place to live,” she says, as she hugs firefighter Manny Morales.

East Texas Ammo owners, Wayne Perkins and April Dlugosh, hosted their first event at their new location, welcoming Officer Tucker George and Sgt. Atkinson.

Texans Against Crime is an annual event designed to unite neighbors and communities to encourage neighborhood communication, community involvement and crime prevention in order to create safer neighborhoods.
