Mineola Pilot Club schedules annual Memory Walk, ceremony Nov. 7

Posted

The Pilot Club of Mineola will host its annual Alzheimer’s Memory  Walk on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mineola Civic Center. The walk is to honor those who have Alzheimer’s and their  caregivers and memorialize those who are no longer with us.

Funds raised by the walk will be used to support local Pilot Club  Alzheimer’s related projects and by the Alzheimer’s Association to fund research and support for caregivers in the Northeast Texas area.

There will be no t-shirts given this year. There will be no set amount required for walking. All donations will be appreciated. Walkers registering as a group (clubs, businesses, schools, banks, etc.) should wear their organization’s shirt, and the organization with the most walkers and the one raising the most money will be awarded a plaque commemorating the event. Animals (pets) on leashes may also be entered as a walker for the group.

A candlelight memorial ceremony will be held honoring those who have Alzheimer’s disease or have died as a result of A.D.  Participants in the walk will be served hot dogs and chili at the end of the walk.
