Mineola police and community join to fight crime

Mineola neighbors and the police department will join forces for a citywide awareness campaign against crime Tuesday, Oct. 8.

The event allows the police to visit with citizens in a more relaxed environment, said Capt. Dusty Cook, who is coordinating the event.

It will mark the 19th year for the city to take part in such an effort.

In addition to the PD, the fire department, sheriff’s and constables offices take part.

Texans Against Crime aims to create safer neighborhoods through neighborhood communication, community involvement and crime prevention.

Locations for neighborhood celebrations should be reported to the police department by Monday, Oct. 7 in order for the police to schedule visits to the events. Call Capt. Cook at 903-569-6294.
