Mineola police reports for the past week included:
Sept. 6 – An officer arrested Louie Anthony Culp, 52, Dallas at 3:44 p.m. for public intoxication at Z grocery after there was a report of the man drinking alcohol in front of the store.
There was a report of a man possibly passed out in his vehicle on East Broad Street at 4:25 p.m. An officer found the man had been drinking and told him to get someone to pick him up.
A Mineola woman reported that her child was being harassed on Facebook by a woman. An officer talked with the woman and arranged that none of the parties contact each other.
Sept. 5 – Police arrested Emily Lee Strickland, 24, Mineola at 1:24 a.m. for violation of probation from Wood County after she was stopped on Country Club Drive for a defective tail light.
A woman called police and reported her granddaughter didn’t want to go to school. An officer transported the girl to school.
Police received a report of a child locked in a car at Z Grocery and an officer went and unlocked the vehicle.
A woman called and reported she was taking care of her baby granddaughter and she had just had surgery and needed some help. An officer went to the home and changed the diaper and then some family members arrived to help.
A woman reported her 14-year-old granddaughter stole her cell phone.
The department received a call from a medical facility about a sexual assault of a juvenile girl involving an older boyfriend. The matter is under investigation.
Police arrested Andrew David Moore, 35, Lindale on six traffic warrants after he was stopped on West Broad Street for a defective tail light.
Sept. 4 – At 1:04 p.m. a man and a woman went to the police department because they had put on a pair of handcuffs and could not get them unlocked. An officer unlocked the cuffs.
Police arrested Carl Joseph McDonald, 32, and Shauna Ann Jones, 29, both of Mineola after a traffic stop on Green Street. An officer stopped the vehicle for an expired registration and McDonald was arrested for that and for driving without a license. Jones was a passenger and was arrested for not wearing a seatbelt.
A traffic stop for speeding on North Pacific Street resulted in the arrested of Nathaniel Anthony Carroll, 23 Winnsboro. Carroll was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license (enhanced).
Sept. 3 – At 12:58 a.m. an officer received a report of a reckless driver on Highway 37 who was driving at speeds from 20 to 85 and then pulled into Walmart. The responding officer located and arrested Jason Lee Humphries, 39, Grand Saline for public intoxication.
Police were called by a clerk at Z Grocery reporting someone was trying to leave without paying. When police arrived the person had paid the bill they owed.
At 9:59 p.m. police received a report of people yelling in the EZ Mart parking lot. But they were gone when police arrived.
A woman reported that a chair was missing from her yard and she found out that a neighbor had it inside their house.
Sept. 2 – At 8:49 a.m. a report came in of a reckless driver at Loop 564. An officer stopped the car and found that the driver was just sleepy from working all night and was trying to get home. The officer followed them home.
There was a report of a disturbance involving a mother and father during a child custody exchange in the Walmart parking lot. The matter is under investigation.
A woman reported that someone had used her debit card multiple times after getting fuel in Mineola. An officer and the manager at EZ Mart checked the gas pumps and say they had not been tampered with.
Police arrested Leroy Bailey, 52, Mineola on class C assault after he allegedly assaulted a roommate on Karen Street.
There was a report of gunshot around 7 p.m. in the area of Freeman and Baker Streets but police weren’t able to find a source.
Personnel at Whataburger reported at 9:30 p.m. a group of males being loud and using vulgar language who continued to do so, even after being asked to stop. They were gone when police arrived.
Police arrested Daniel William Shiefen, 44, Tyler for public intoxication. They had received a call about an assault on West Patten Street when a man who was drunk allegedly assaulted his wife, but she didn’t want to file charges. However an officer who had initially stopped to provide a driver assistance arrested Shiefen for public intoxication because he didn’t see him drive the vehicle.
Sept. 1 – A man who had boarded Amtrak without a ticket was marshaled off the trail in Mineola and issued a criminal trespass warning.
There was a report at 5:19 p.m. of a reckless driver swerving all over the road and passing cars on the shoulder. An officer found the vehicle on West Broad Street and gave the driver a verbal warning.
Aug. 31 – There was a report of a disturbance on Kings Lane between two female family members. Police were told it was only an argument and one of the family members left the home.
Police assisted EMS and first responders when a woman fell in the road on East Commerce Street. She was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Quitman with minor injuries.
Police arrested Zachary Kyle Morseth, 20, Hawkins on East McDonald Street on a Wood County warrant for possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop of a vehicle in which he was a passenger.
