Mineola Police Department Weekly News Report

Aug.15 – At 12:05 a.m. an officer saw two vehicles street racing on North Pacific Street. He turned around, but he lost sight of them. The officer was flagged down by a vehicle that, the driver reported, was almost hit head on by the racing cars. The officer patrolled the area but was unable to locate the vehicles.

At 6:45 a.m. a reckless driver was reported on East Broad Street headed eastbound. Wood County S.O. was contacted.

At 1:36 p.m. officers responded to a call on Goodson Circle for a verbal disturbance between a mother and adult daughters. The two talked out the issue while officers were there.

An assault was reported on West McDonald Street at 6:44 p.m. when one woman said she was hit by another woman when she entered her residence. The victim did not wish to file charges.

At 8:06 p.m. a disturbance was reported between a man and woman on Wigley Street. An officer responded and contacted the female subject who said there was no assault and she was just yelling for her dog.

At 9:28 p.m. a man on Wigley reported a friend of his girlfriend was sending text messages to people pretending to be his girlfriend. Both parties were spoken to and advised to have no contact.

10:06 p.m. a resident on University Street reported a theft from her residence.

At 10:50 p.m. a woman reported a child custody issue saying a child was in possession of the wrong person. Upon investigation into the matter the mother said she had given the baby up to the person, but wanted to give the baby to someone else. Child Protective Services was contacted and welfare check was conducted on the baby.

Aug. 14 –An officer assisted a Wood County deputy with a warrant arrest on Minwood Street at 1:12 a.m.

At 7:24 p.m. an officer was flagged down while patrolling on North Johnson and found a woman to be having a medical issue. EMS was contacted and the woman was transported to the hospital.

At 10:57 p.m. suspicious activity was reported at a business on South Pacific when a truck with two males loaded items in a hurried fashion into the bed of a truck. It was found to be scrap metal that was given to an employee.

Aug. 13 – 12:01 a.m. A report was made of a woman walking around on a parking lot at a business on Loop 564. The woman was located and checked and said she was just working through some personal issues.

At 7:04 p.m. a man was reported at a house on University Street who had a protective order. The caller thought it was still valid. The person left before officers arrived and it was found the order had expired.

At 7:33 p.m. a woman reported her son and friend were leaving a restaurant on North Pacific Street and the person in the truck attempted to run them off the road. She was told her son should call 911 if it happens again so the vehicle can be stopped and suspects identified.

At 7:35 p.m. a woman on University Street called and said the man she had just run off from her residence was back. The man got his belongings and then was issued a criminal trespass warning.

At 9:29 p.m. a burn violation was reported at Front and South Street. An officer advised the violator to put the fire out.

Aug. 12 – 12:31 a.m. An officer responded to a report of a reckless driver on Hwy 37 North headed southbound into the city. He did not see the vehicle come into the city limits.

11:14 a.m. Robert Lloyd Bedwell, 37, of Mineola, was arrested for theft at a business on NE Loop 564 after he walked past the point of sale with several hundred dollars of stolen merchandise.

2:23 p.m. A business on East Broad Street reported an intoxicated man in the business. They reported the man left and sent into another business. An officer could not find the vehicle at those locations and went to the residence address the license plate registration came back to and found the vehicle parked and unattended.

2:53 p.m. A business on NE Loop 564 reported a theft that had occurred days before. They provided video evidence of the theft. This is under investigation with pending charges.

7:41 p.m. A 911 call was received from an elderly man who appeared confused. After some investigation the man was found to be from a local assisted living facility. An officer went to the location and spoke with the man and everything was fine.

9: 38 p.m. An officer made a traffic stop on East Broad Street for a traffic violation and could smell marijuana. The man told the officer he had just smoked the marijuana at a local motel on East Broad Street and would take them to the marijuana. They followed to the motel and took possession of the marijuana, some paraphernalia, and he man was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Aug. 11 – At 11:48 a.m. A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific Street unable to maintain a single lane of traffic. An officer found the vehicle parked at the Shell Station but not the driver.

4:14 p.m. A man reported he may have hit another vehicle at a business on South Pacific. An officer followed up on the report but did not receive a report from anyone that was hit.

8:47 p.m. Suspicious activity at a bank on North Pacific Street was reported when a vehicle pulled up to the ATM with the back of the car open and a tool bag out. An officer responded and found the man who said he dropped his debit card inside the door panel and was attempting to get it out.

8:53 p.m. Suspicious activity was reported at a business on NE Loop 564. An officer responded and found someone working on floor repairs.

9:33 p.m. A resident on South Street reported harassment from a man that keeps driving by her residence when he has been issued a criminal trespass. Officers spoke with the man about harassment.

9:57 p.m. A resident on Elliott Street reported a man continually trespassing on her property after she had told him not to. Officers gave the man a warning to not go back on her property.

Aug. 10 – At 12:38 a South Street resident reported a person who has a current criminal trespass against them driving by the house. Officers checked and did not locate the vehicle. Officers patrolled the area.

6:38 a.m. A suspicious man was reported at the entrance of Walmart pacing back and forth and in and out. The man was located and talked to by an officer. He was waiting on a ride to work.

8:49 a.m. A resident reported some items missing from her home on North Pacific Street. She called back and reported she had found the items at the residence.

10:10 a.m. A person on Pamela Street received a fraudulent phone call requesting $4,000 be wired for a friend that was supposedly in jail. The resident realized it was a scam and reported it.

10:14 a.m. A business on NE Loop 564 reported a theft that occurred in July. This is under invesitigation.

3:29 p.m. An internal theft was reported by a business located on NE Loop 564. This is under investigation.

7:04 p.m. Wood County S.O. reported a reckless driver unable to maintain a single lane coming in to the city southbound from 37 North. An officer responded but did not locate the vehicle.

11:19 p.m. Paulette Vanhorn Henderson, 42 of Quitman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance over 1 gram under 4 grams (methamphetamine). She was stopped by an officer on North Pacific for defective equipment. She was also in possession of an open container and a small amount o marijuana.

Aug. 9 – 11:59 a.m. Mineola High School reported a burglary when it was discovered that a door was accidentally left unlocked. Several Apple electronics were stolen. Surveillance shows the burglar entering the school at around 4:50 a.m. This is under investigation

1:59 p.m. Suspicious activity was reported at the Civic Center near the splash pad when a woman saw five juvenile males smoking. When an officer arrived they were located, and he confiscated three vapes. The parents were notified with exception of one. The juveniles were turned over to a parent.

5:14 p.m. A woman on University Street requested to speak with an officer in reference to an ex-boyfriend coming to her resident.

9:04 p.m. A suspicious vehicle was reported to be parked on Sycamore Street in front of a residence. An officer responded to the call and found the vehicle belonged to a new neighbor moving in.
