Mineola Police Department activities Oct. 18-24

OCT. 24 – At 3:43 a.m. an officer assisted a State Trooper with a traffic stop on West Broad Street.

At 9:21 a.m. a sink hole was reported near the train depot. Texas Department of Transportation was notified and supervisor reported he would contact Union Pacific.

At 9:32 a.m. a resident of East Broad Street reported feeling unstable. The man was transported to Quitman hospital for evaluation by EMS.

At 9:33 p.m. a woman reported she received an application in the mail with her personal information on it from the Department of Education. With the application was a note asking her to sign the application. She was advised not to sign anything and place a watch on her credit.

At 5:09 p.m. several callers reported a television in the middle of the intersection of Broad and Pacific Streets that had fallen from a vehicle. An officer responded and got it out of the intersection.

At 8:01 p.m. a business on East Broad Street reported an attempted shoplifter. The clerk was able to stop the female from taking the items before leaving. The female was not there upon the officer’s arrival. The store requested a criminal trespass and was advised to call the department if she showed back again since she had not been identified.

OCT. 23 – At 12:16 a.m. a business on North East Loop 564 reported they had a group of people in the parking lot that were being rowdy. When officers responded to the location the group had left.

At 2:05 a.m. a call was received from a female requesting an officer at a residence on South Newsom. Officers went to the location but the man that answered the phone said a woman was not there and no one called from there. Later in the morning officers went back to the residence and spoke with the man at the residence. Officers found the woman called from another residence after she had left during an argument with the man. Officers spoke with the woman and she was fine.

At 4:42 a.m. a resident reported construction workers working at a lot next to her. An officer spoke with the workers who stated they had a permit to be working that early.

At 6:37 a.m. an officer assisted a game warden when it appeared some property on CR 2810 could have a gate open from a break-in. The officer checked the property and did not find any indication that a burglary had occurred.

At 6:28 p.m. a welfare concern was reported in reference to an elderly man the neighbor had not seen all day on Giles Street. The officer checked on the man and he was fine.

At 11:55 p.m. an officer went to a convenience store on North Pacific Street and witnessed an open container in a vehicle in the parking lot. While investigating who the driver of the vehicle was the officer found the driver had multiple warrants out of Wood County. Kardarian Delaun Cooksey, 25, of Hawkins was arrested for carrying prohibited weapon, unlawful carrying a weapon and possession of Marijuana under two ounces.

OCT. 22 – At 10:35 a.m. a credit card fraud was reported when a woman received a fraud alert that her Valero card had been used in Dallas.

At 12:34 p.m. a debit card fraud was reported when a man reported he received a call indicating the caller was from AT&T. The caller told him he owed a small balance. After giving the caller his debit card information he found several hundred dollars used on his card out of California.

At 1:02 p.m. a bank on North Pacific Street reported an elderly customer came in to get money and after speaking with her it was believed to be a scam. An officer met with the customer and felt it was a scam as well. The information was forwarded to Smith County S.O. since the customer lived there.

At 2:22 p.m. a man turned in a cell phone that was found in the roadway on North Pacific Street. It was returned to the owner shortly after.

At 2:47 p.m. a man reported he is being harassed and threatened by another employee’s boyfriend while at work at a business on North Pacific Street. The complainant was told to call the department if the man returns.

At 2:51 p.m. an officer assisted EMS with a man that fell on North Newsom Street. The man was transported to the hospital.

At 5:38 p.m. a disturbance was reported at a business on East Broad Street. When officers arrived a man was there that was intoxicated and causing a scene. Richard Alan Hatcher, 36, Mineola was arrested for public intoxication.

At 7:13 p.m. a day care center on North Newsom reported a man walking back and forth in front of the business. An officer responded and found the man who lived in the area and was just talking on his phone while walking.

At 7:48 p.m. a disturbance was reported on University Street. Officers responded and determined it was a verbal argument between an adult daughter and her father.

At 9:55 p.m. a resident reported someone had been knocking on the side of her residence on Front Street and running away. Officers patrolled the area but did not locate anyone in the area.

At 10:31 p.m. officers assisted a stranded motorist at the Civic Center.

At 11:17 p.m. an officer assisted a Wood County deputy while on a traffic stop with three occupants detained on West Broad Street.

At ll:27 p.m. an officer checked on a suspicious vehicle parked on Commerce Street. It was found the occupant of the vehicle was using WIFI.

OCT. 21 – At 12:11 a welfare concern was reported on North Newsom Street when a man reported he was attempting to get in contact with his estranged wife and children. Officers sent to the location but did not make contact with her. When the man was contacted back with the status he reported he had spoken with her but forgot to call the department.

At 1:10 a.m. a verbal disturbance was reported on Sycamore Street between two roommates. Officers responded to the location and spoke with the two. Both parties said they were fine and refused to separate for the night.

At 2:04 a.m. Wood County reported deputies needed assistance at a convenience store on North Pacific Street with a man that was passed out in his vehicle. They arrived and were able to get the subject awake. Paraphernalia was found in plain view in the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted and James Michael Danna, 19 of Yantis was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance under 28 grams, when he was found in possession of two types of prescription medication without prescriptions.

At 7:51 p.m. Loud music was reported at a residence at West Broad and Graves streets. An officer responded to the call but did not find the music to be too loud.

At 11-13 p.m. an officer made a vehicle stop on North Pacific Street for a traffic violation and found two in the vehicle with warrants. Brenda Ann Regino, 37 of Mineola was arrested for misdemeanor warrant out of Tom Green County in San Angelo for bond forfeiture on criminal trespass. Christopher Mora, 40 of Tyler was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant out of Tom Green County for the same charge.

OCT. 20 – At 12:53 a.m. a resident on Giles street reported she heard someone knocking on her door about an hour before she called. An officer responded to the area and spoke with the neighbors. The neighbors said they knocked on their own door to scare their kids.

At 1:23 a.m. a business on NE Loop 564 reported they found a baggy of Marijuana at the entry door. An officer responded and took possession of it.

At 1:30 a.m. an officer responded to a business on NE Loop 564 for a report of a female looking into the windows of vehicles in the parking lot. The officer identified the female but did not find an offense had taken place.

At 2:37 a.m. a reckless driver was reportedly driving eastbound in the westbound lane on East Broad Street. An officer responded to the area but did not find the vehicle. Wood County S.O. was notified.

At 4:20 a.m. an officer assisted a Wood County deputy on a medical call at South Loop 564.

At 6:57 a.m. A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific Street that turned on Bromberg Street. An officer responded to the area and found the described vehicle parked at a business on Bromberg Street.

At 7:16 p.m. an assault was reported at a motel on East Broad Street. The male victim reported the male suspect was in a room at the motel and beat him up while he was visiting with the suspect. The victim also reported the suspect kept his phone and wallet. Officers responded to the call and found the victim had been assaulted with minor injuries. The man got his phone and wallet back, then decided he did not wish to file charges. A non-prosecution waiver was signed and a report was completed.

At 8:10 p.m. a reckless driver was reported by Wood County S.O. on West Broad Street traveling eastbound in the westbound lane. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle but were unsuccessful.

OCT. 19 – At 10:22 a.m. an officer responded to a residence to check the welfare of a student after she walked off campus. The student was fine and with a parent.

At 11:59 a.m. an officer responded to a bank on North Pacific Street when a customer reported fraudulent transactions on their account. This is under investigation.

At 12:28 p.m. a woman requested a welfare check at a residence on West Blair when she went to check on her son’s residence while he was out of state. It was determined the landlord had rented the residence to someone else.

At 4:23 p.m. an officer responded to a suspicious vehicle call on Robin Street when a resident noticed a vehicle sitting in front of a residence for a while. The woman was waiting for the realtor to show her the home that was for sale.

At 8:52 p.m. A reckless driver was reportedly swerving and slowing down to almost a stop in the middle of the roadway. The vehicle was reported to be headed toward Grand Saline on West Broad Street. Officers responded to the area, but did not locate the vehicle. Wood County S.O. was notified.

OCT. 18 – At 10:25 a.m. an officer responded to MISD to take an assault report that one of the students reported. The assault was involving two parents fighting. The assault is believed to have happened at a home in Smith County.

At 1:37 p.m. an officer met with a man that had a civil issue involving his vehicle. The officer recommended the man take the matter to JP Court.

2:05 p.m. a disturbance was reported at a gas station located on NE Loop 564. Two vehicles were reportedly attempting to pull up to the same pump and an argument ensued. One vehicle was gone when the officers arrived.

At 2:48 p.m. an officer spoke with a man about a custody issue involving his child. He was advised the issue is civil.

At 5:29 p.m. an officer responded to a disturbance involving the custody of a child. The officer spoke with both parents about their custodial rights. The two parents were separated and advised their situation is a civil matter.

At 6:35 p.m. a man reported he was being harassed by phone to send money to an individual. The man was told the call is a scam. He was also advised to block the number and do not send any money.

At 8:08 p.m. An officer responded to a business on West Broad when a custody exchange became a verbal disturbance. An officer spoke with the mother of the child and explained to her that the custody issue is a civil matter.

At 8:32 p.m. a shoplifter was reported at Wal-Mart. Cassey Bolton, 24 of Quitman was arrested for theft $100 t0 $750. Bolton reportedly paid for merchandise in her cart but had other merchandise in a handbag that she walked out of the store with

At 9:33 p.m. a stranded motorist requested assistance when he had a flat tire on West Loop 564. An officer responded to the call and assisted the man.
