7:20 a.m. A resident on East Blair Street reported, she came outside and found a handgun lying next to her trashcan. The department retrieved the .22 handgun. The department had an incident the night before where an officer stopped a vehicle at East Kilpatrick and Newsom Street. The passenger took off running during the stop. The passenger that had a felony warrant was not located by officers. During a search of the vehicle, .22 ammunition was located. This continues to be under investigation and charges are pending.

11:24 a.m. An officer requested EMS for a driver of a vehicle at Front and South Pacific Street that was having medical issues. The driver was left in the care of EMS.

3:24 p.m. A woman reported an assault by another female at a business on South Pacific Street. A citation was issued for a simple assault by contact.

7:46 p.m. A student at MISD reported an assault by another student. The incident was turned over to the MISD Police Department.

August 23

12:44 p.m. An officer responded to a business on Mimosa Street in reference to problems with one of the resident’s family member.

3:46 p.m. A reckless driver was reported to be attempting to hit vehicles that were passing the driver on East Broad Street. Several citizens reported the vehicle was then stopped in the middle of the roadway at Loop 564 and Hwy. 80 East. Once officers arrived, a DPS Trooper was contacted to respond to the scene for an intoxicated driver.

4:43 p.m. A verbal disturbance was reported on Stone Street when a man was mowing and the neighbors across the street started threatening him. An officer responded and made contact with both parties. The officer reported everything was fine after speaking with both parties.

5:26 p.m. A woman reported she was getting unwanted messages from a man on Facebook. An officer met with her and advised her to not respond to the person and to block them.

7:55 p.m. A resident reported a white male running through the area at University and Dubose Street and hid in the trees by the old football field. Officers searched the area, but did not find anyone.
