Nov. 14

6:15 a.m. A business on East Broad St. requested an officer to have an 18 wheeler move that was parked in the back of their parking lot and the driver was asleep. An officer asked him to move.

10:45 a.m. A theft was reported at a residence on Wigley St. when a contractor was working at the residence and a man walked into the residence and stole over $600 from the man’s wallet. The victim caught up to the man as he was leaving and confronted him. The victim was able to retrieve his money, along with some receipts that was mixed with the money. Calvin Cedric Horton, 56, of Mineola was arrested on a warrant for theft over $100 under $750 the same day.

Nov. 15

7:55 a.m. Cruelty to animals was reported and is under investigation.

9:08 a.m. Autumn Winds Assisted Living requested a former employee to be trespassed. An officer located the former employee and issued a criminal trespass warning.

9:21 a.m. Union Pacific Rail Yard reported having a light tower stolen. An officer spoke with Anderson County and asked for their assistance to go to a location where the tower was tracking. It was determined that the tower was picked up by mistake by another contracting company.

12:47 p.m. A wallet was reported stolen at a residence on Karen Lane and a debit card was used.

2:51 p.m. A debit card was found on Commerce Street and turned in. The owner was notified.

8:23 p.m. A convenience store on East Broad St. reported a man continues to harass the employees. The officer attempted to locate the man to issue a criminal trespass warning but was unsuccessful.

10:25 p.m. A vehicle was reportedly in the roadway with a stranded motorist on North Pacific St. The vehicle owner was gone upon the officers arrival to get fuel for the vehicle. 

Nov. 16

12:13 a.m. A father reported that his teenage son took his vehicle without permission from their residence on Goodson Circle. Officers attempted to look for the teenager and asked for assistance from Wood County S.O. The teenager and his friend returned home later in early morning hours. The father did not wish to file charges.

12:58 p.m. An assault was reported by a parent that occurred at the Mineola Elementary by another student. The parent was referred to the ISD Police Department.

4:20 p.m. Keys were found at the Mineola Nature Preserve and returned to the owner.

6:54 p.m. A vehicle was reportedly parked at a business on East Broad St. that was in the roadway. An officer made contact with the owner to move the vehicle in a safe parking area.

Nov. 17

3:06 a.m. Officers assisted EMS with a medical call on Newsom St. after the resident called 911 and hung up. The resident was transported to the hospital by EMS.

7:28 a.m. A restaurant on East Broad St. reported a man walked in the back door and started arguing with the cooks when they asked him to leave. The man was gone upon the officers arrival. 

10:23 a.m. A resident on Read St. reported that a male kicked in the door at the residence and left when his mother screamed. An officer attempted to locate the vehicle described. No damage was noted on the door.  A directive patrol was issued.

11:59 a.m. A reckless driver was reported on East McDonald St. that was unable to maintain a single lane of traffic. An officer located the vehicle at a residence on Edwards St., spoke with the driver and noted no signs of intoxication.

2:12 p.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on West Buchanan St. The caller reported two females fighting in the yard. When officers arrived two females had been fighting and one female attempted to break them up. EMS was contacted but all parties refused treatment. All parties signed a waiver of non-prosecution. A family violence report was completed.

4:41 p.m. Officers located the man that walked into the restaurant earlier in the day on East Broad St. The man was located on West Blair St. and issued a criminal trespass warning.

11:56 p.m. A woman reported she was leaving Walmart and witnessed a male and female leaving the store with stolen merchandise. Officers stopped the vehicle at EZ Mart. The female was in possession of property without a receipt. The officer took possession of the property and identified everyone in the vehicle. Walmart will be providing surveillance video to show what was stolen and charges will be filed at a later date.

Nov. 18

10:24 a.m. Officers assisted Wood County S.O. and DPS on a wreck at Loop 564 and Hwy. 69 involving two 18 wheelers.

11:53 a.m. A resident on Spring Lake Dr. reported ruts damaging her empty lot. An officer spoke with the brick company that reported they will remove the brick and fix the ruts.

4:37 p.m. A welfare concern was reported for a man sitting near the roadway on South Pacific St. The disabled man had been dropped off at the location and was trying to get to the Dallas area. Wood County S.O. picked him up and made arrangements with other agencies to transport him to each county line to attempt to get him to his destination.

5:41 p.m. Tammy Brazeal Young, 58, of Mineola was arrested for possession of a controlled substance under 1 gram when she was stopped on a traffic violation on West Broad St.

Nov. 19

8:59 a.m. A disturbance was reported near Goodwill. Officers responded to the area and located a known subject and found that he was hollering at someone at Goodwill. The man was criminally trespassed from Goodwill property.

10:59 a.m. Kindness Cottage reported a man in front of the store causing a scene. Officers responded and determined the man to be the same as the earlier call. At the time the officers encountered him, he was walking and not causing an issue.

12:17 p.m. A welfare concern was reported for a woman in a vehicle in the North Gate Shopping Center who was screaming. The vehicle left the parking lot before the officer arrived and the officer was unable to locate it.

12:59 p.m. An assault was reported that occurred on Sept. 21 on North Pacific St. This is under investigation.

4:09 p.m. A reckless driver was reported on North Pacific St. A license plate number was given. An officer located the vehicle in the driveway of the residence it was registered to. No contact was made.

4:19 p.m. A complainant reported that a known male was on his property on South Pacific St. and would not leave. It was determined to be the same male that was reported several times on others’ property yelling at them. The subject was located on the RR tracks and Union Pacific Police wished to file trespassing charges. Mark Edward Johnson, 34, of Mineola was arrested for interference with railroad property.

5:26 p.m. A resident on West Kilpatrick St. reported a known person was on his property attempting to fight him. Officers responded to the residence and spoke with the parties involved. The officer advised all parties were separated for the night and neither wished to file charges.

8:49 p.m. A disturbance was reported on North Newsom St. When an officer responded, several subjects were present that indicated a female was fighting another female. Lori Pearl Burge, 22, of Mineola, was arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

10:06 p.m. A 2-vehicle accident was reported at Loop 564 and West Broad St. The driver of a 2010 Nissan 4-door was driving westbound on West Broad St. when the driver of a 2013 Cadillac failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign on Loop 564. The driver of the Nissan hit the Cadillac. Upon investigation the driver of the Cadillac, Samuel Joseph Kauahquo, 32, of Mineola was arrested for two counts of felony DWI with child passenger and possession of marijuana. The two children were taken to the hospital by a private vehicle and released with minor injuries. 

11:07 p.m. A suspicious person was reported sitting in front of the Xpress Wash for a long period of time and a customer was afraid to leave. An officer checked on the driver of the vehicle and determined the subject was waiting for his laundry.

11:23 p.m. A welfare concern was reported for a female in a room at the Relax Inn. The reporting party stated the female was involved in a disturbance earlier in the day. Officers responded to the room and spoke with the female. 

Nov. 20

7:23 a.m. Officers responded to a death investigation of an 85 year old man at a residence on East Broad St. The caregiver reported she found him deceased. Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Janae Holland ordered an autopsy.

5:05 p.m. An officer transported a juvenile home to their parents after they were caught stealing at Brookshire’s. No charges were filed.

5:36 p.m. A disturbance and welfare concern was reported when a caller reported a male forcing a female into a vehicle at a residence on University St. An officer located the female and she denied that anything happened other than an argument.

6:48 p.m. A reckless driver was reported all over the roadway and almost hit two vehicles. Officers located the vehicle parked at a residence and knew the driver to be an elderly person living where the vehicle was parked.
