Mineola Police Report

April 23

9:32 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of N. Pacific St. to a residence for a theft report. The complainant stated that packages were stolen from their porch.  This case is under investigation. 

9:54 a.m. Investigators received a case from Smith County Sheriff’s Office involving a juvenile within the city limits of Mineola. This case is listed as active and under investigation.

3:56 p.m. A city ordinance violation of loud music was reported in the 300 block of E. Broad St. Officers located the source of the music and the subject playing the loud music was issued a warning. The music was turned down. 

4:10 p.m. A report was received of a person burning car tires in the E. Broad St. area. After further investigation it was discovered that the offense was occurring outside of the city limits. Call was transferred to Wood County S.O.

6:22 p.m. A disturbance was reported of two juveniles fighting and then the mother of one started yelling at the other parent. After officer’s arrival in the 700 block of Goodson Circle, it was discovered  that it was verbal only between the adults, and no one wished to file charges on the assault between the juveniles. 

10:33 p.m.  Zackary Haskin, 35 of Mineola was arrested for public intoxication. Officers were called to the 500 block of E. McDonald St. for a male in the roadway yelling.

                      April 24  

326 p.m. Officers responded to a public assist in a parking lot of a restaurant located in the 600 block of W. Broad St. The officer was able to help the motorist.   

3:59 p.m. A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of N. Pacific and E. Blair St. No injuries was reported and damage to both vehicles was minimal. 

8:41 p.m.  A reckless driver was reported in the W. Broad St. area. Driver was reported eastbound and unable to maintain a single lane. Officers located the vehicle and driver. After a series of tests the driver was found to be OK to drive. 

9:21 p.m.  An unresponsive male was reported in a grassy area at Stone St. and W. Front St. Officers located the subject and started CPR. After EMS’s arrival, it was determined that the male had passed away. The area was secured and CID initiated an investigation. JP was called to the scene and an autopsy is pending. Investigation continues. 

April 25 

9:53 a.m. EMS requested police officers assistance in the 100 block of Pat Drive. The officers responded to the location and assisted EMS. The subject was later transported by EMS. 

11:12 a.m. A reckless driver of an 18-wheeler was reported coming into the city limits of Mineola from W. Broad. Officer located the 18-wheeler and made contact with the driver. The driver was found to be OK and stated that he was lost. Subject was given directions. 

1:14 p.m. A black calf was reported trapped on the Mineola High School football field located on West Loop 564.  The owner of the calf was contacted and removed from the end zone. 

1:27 p.m. A road rage incident was reported to officers in the 1500 block of S. Pacific St. The incident started in a construction zone when one vehicle passed another.  One driver stated that he thought he had seen the other driver waive a handgun. Officers located all parties, and after a search of both vehicles, no handgun was found. One driver received a citation.

4:32 p.m.  Dispatch received a call about a male urinating outside of a business in the 500 block of E. Broad St.  Officers located the man and found that the store’s public restrooms where closed. The man stated that he had gone behind a Dumpster to relieve himself. The male stated that he was unaware that he could be seen.

8:55 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of N. Johnson St. in reference to criminal mischief. The caller stated that her boyfriend had busted out a window on her vehicle. A report was completed and is currently being investigated by CID.

April 26

2:40 a.m. Officer checked the welfare of a woman in the 100 block of N. Pacific St. The woman was from out of town. Contact was made with the woman’s relatives. Directions were given to the woman to the relative’s home. Officers ended call with a public assist. 

8:54 a.m.  A caller reported that a subject had parked in a handicap parking space and did not have a handicap placard displayed. The officers responded to the 100 block of Debby Lane. Officers located the vehicle and the driver. Officers talked to the driver and the vehicle was removed from the spot. 

10:10 a.m. Animal Control worked a dog bite case after it was reported that a man had been bitten on his arm. The caller advised that a man that was bit was trying to separate a dog that was fighting with his two dogs. The incident occurred in the 500 block of McWhorter St. The owner of the dog was located and quarantined by state law. The man bitten suffered minor injuries to his arm. 

6:51 p.m. Officers assisted Child Protection Service with attempting to locate a subject. Locations requested by CPS were checked by officers. 

10:01 p.m. Loud music was reported in the Hogg Street and Turman St. area.  Officers located the loud music coming from the backyard of a residence. Music was turned off for the night.

11:25 p.m. Officers were called to the 800 block of University St. on a disturbance.  Officers talked with everyone involved and found that no offense occurred. All the parties involved were separated for the night.  

April 27

12:48 a.m. A Grand Saline police officer received information about a business located in Mineola selling alcohol to minors. This case is under investigation. 

9:33 a.m. Animal Control assisted a woman in looking for her lost dog. The dog went missing in the 200 block of W. Buchanan. After a lengthy search, the woman called later and stated that her dog had returned home.

2:51 p.m. A theft report is being investigated that occurred at Walmart on a prior date with a known suspect. Case has been forwarded to CID for investigation.   

5:30 p.m. Walmart reported that two subjects had left the store with unpaid items. Caller advised that subjects were dropping several items as they left the store. The vehicle that the subjects left in was located by Mineola Police Officers.  Constable Smith was contacted to assist with canine. Subjects were identified and criminal trespasses warnings were issued upon Walmart’s request.

6:46 p.m. Several males were reported at a residence in the 500 block of West Blair without the homeowner’s permission. The males left prior to the officer’s arrival to the scene. A directed patrol was requested by the property owner. 

10:02 p.m. Officers located a man and a woman removing items from a Dumpster behind a closed business. The business in the 1000 block of S. Pacific was contacted. The man and woman were identified by officers, and the manager of the business requested that the two be issued a criminal trespass warning. 

April 28

9:00 a.m. Officers responded to the 1200 block of Bromberg St. to check the welfare of a tenant. The caller advised that a vehicle had been reported running all night long. After further investigation the owner of the vehicle was located and found to have let the vehicle run all night by accident. 

9:13 a.m. Dispatch received a report of a power line down and crossing the street in the 800 block of N. Newsom St.  The line was secured and removed from the roadway. Suddenlink was notified. 

12:10 p.m.  An officer cleared the roadway of a limb that had fallen at the intersection of E. Blair St. and N. Pacific St. 

8:07 p.m. An assault was reported by a hospital staff member as required by law. Caller advised that they were treating a victim of an assault that had occurred in the 300 block of McWhorter St. The assault was investigated by officers and found to have occurred over a dispute between two family members. Investigation continues.  

April 29

11:09 a.m. A business in the 500 block of E. Broad St. requested a criminal trespass warning be issued. The business did not want a customer to be allowed back into their store. The subject left prior to officer’s arrival. The subject is known to officers and will be served at a later date. 

1:09 p.m. A power line was reported down on Peachtree St. at the intersection of Ryan St. The cable company was contacted. 

7:59 p.m. A city ordinance violation was reported in the Laura St. area. It was reported that someone was burning in their yard. Officers located the burning violation and the residents were advised of the city ordinance and how to obtain a burn permit. 

10:01 p.m. A debit card was located in the intersection of Commerce St. and S. Johnson St. The card was turned into the police department and the card was returned to the owner.
