Mineola Police Report

June 4

2:36 a.m. Dispatchers received a call of possible marijuana smoke from a building in the 1200 block of Bromberg St. Officers checked and were unable to detect the smell. No signs of illegal activity was present.  The caller was requested to contact the department if the odor was detected again.

9:39 a.m. Dispatchers received several 9-1-1 calls about a vehicle driving through the front of a business in the 1000 block of N. Pacific St. Officers located a truck inside the building. No injuries were reported. An accident report was completed.

10:08 a.m. A woman reported her vehicle stolen when she left a known person inside the car after going into a store. When she returned to her vehicle, the vehicle and her friend were gone. Officers escorted the woman to her residence. The woman was able to make contact with the driver who stated he would meet her back at Walmart.  The woman refused to file charges. 

1:00 p.m. A caller reported that a Dodge pickup had swerved at a group of people walking in the 1300 block of N. Pacific St. Officers checked the area for the described vehicle. The truck was not located.  

1:29 p.m. A business in the 200 block of W. Broad St. requested that a man be criminally trespassed from their property. The incident was from two previous disturbances. The man had left prior to officers’ arrival. Officers located the man at his residence and served the trespass warning. 

2:15 p.m. A hit and run was reported in the Walmart parking lot. Officers responded to the location and spoke to the owner of the damaged vehicle. Officers advised that the surveillance video would need to be reviewed due to the owner not knowing where the damage had occurred.   

5:03 p.m. An object was reported in the roadway at N. Pacific St. and E. McDonald St. Caller stated that a gas can full of gasoline had fallen off of a vehicle. It was removed before officers arrived.

6:08 p.m. A minor vehicle accident was reported in the 1200 block of N. Pacific St. The driver of one of the vehicles had hit the vehicle in front while waiting in the drive through lane. The drivers exchanged information. No report was made. 

7:13 p.m.  Officers assisted the Mineola Fire Dept. when several explosions occurred in the 1400 block of W. Broad St. causing a building to catch fire. The fire department reported that the cause of explosions was due to small propane tanks rupturing.

June 5

1:26 a.m. Officers located a suspicious vehicle parked near the Mineola Nature Preserve. No signs of criminal activity were found. 

10:28 a.m. A woman in the 400 block of Landers St. reported that her gaming system was stolen. The caller stated that a known person was in her home when the system came up missing. A theft report was made and this case is under investigation. 

12:51 p.m. Officers were called to the Mineola Nature Preserve in reference to a theft. Two women were identified and later issued criminal trespass warnings for the Mineola Nature Preserve property. The two women had been reportedly taking items from the public restrooms and also trashing the restrooms before leaving. This had occurred on several occasions. 

1:14 p.m. A theft of property is under investigation with a known suspect who allegedly removed several items from inside a residence in the 700 block of Goodson Circle. The caller stated that a man had been staying in the residence at the time the items were taken. This case is under investigation.

5:06 p.m. A woman stated her neighbor had called her to report a juvenile riding a bicycle in front of her residence. The neighbor stated that the juvenile had littered on her property in the 100 block of Nancy St. Officers could not locate the juvenile.

6:27 p.m. A business in the 300 block of E. Broad St. reported a man had entered the store and appeared to be disoriented. Store employees were unable to communicate with the man due to a language barrier. Officers requested EMS. The man was checked out by EMS and believed to be suffering from the heat. The man refused EMS services. 

7:00 p.m. A young baby buzzard was located on a porch in the 400 block of Sycamore St. The homeowner requested that the bird be removed from the property. Officers removed the bird and released it at the Mineola Nature Preserve.

8:54 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the Walmart parking lot in reference to a disturbance. Officers talked with one party. The other party had left. The man stated that he was assaulted by his wife after a short argument and did not wish to file charges. Officers handed out the required state information relating to family violence notifications. 

11:06 p.m. Nathanial Thorne Williams, 26, of Mineola was arrested for an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle warrant. Williams was stopped by officers for a traffic violation in the 2000 block of W. Broad St.

11:52 p.m. Officers were notified by a resident in the 700 block of N. Newsom St. that an ex-tenant was attempting to return to the property and remove items left behind. The owner requested the subject be criminally trespassed from the property. The subject did not return. 

June 6

12:13 p.m. Officers assisted a Wood County deputy with a traffic stop at N. Pacific St. and Nuss Drive. It was determined the driver was having a medical issue.

4:06 p.m. Officers were called to assist EMS with a combative patient in the 300 block of Greenville Hwy. EMS was able to transport the patient with officers help.

10:18 p.m. Randall Wilt, 40, of Hawkins was arrested for driving while license invalid. Wilts was involved in a motor vehicle accident in the 100 block of E. Broad St.

June 7

12:43 p.m. An officer assisted Wood County Deputy with a traffic stop at Loop 564 and North Hwy. 69. The traffic stop led to an arrest. 

7:58 p.m. A woman in the 500 block of Phillips St. reported that her phone had been stolen after she sat it down. Someone on a motorcycle had driven by and picked up the phone. The phone had not been activated and the woman stated that she did not wish to file charges. This incident was documented.

June 8

9:08 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of W. McDonald St. A man stated that someone had placed nails on his property. The man stated that they were left by a known person. Officers completed a directed patrol form for the man’s property. 

10:42 a.m. Credit card abuse was reported at a business in the 600 block of Freeman St. The manager reported that one of the employees had made several unauthorized charges on the company’s credit card. This case is under investigation. 

6:01 p.m. John Andrew Masters Jr., 35, of Mineola was arrested for criminal trespassing. Officers were called to Walmart when Masters was observed on their property. Masters had previously been warned not to return. Masters was transported to Wood County jail without incident. 

June 9

4:13 p.m. A bank card was located in a parking lot in the 300 block of E. Broad St. Officers took the card back to the bank of issue and it was returned to the owner. 

8:23 p.m. Dispatch received a call regarding two gunshots in the area of Laura St. A man contacted the department and stated that he had fired two shots in his backyard to stop his dogs from fighting. The man received a citation for discharging a firearm within the city limits.  

9:25 p.m. A woman in the 700 block of Greenville Ave. reported a disturbance between herself and her husband. The woman had left the property and wanted to talk with officers. The officers talked with both parties and discovered that the altercation was verbal. The parties agreed to separate for the night. 

June 10

12:16 a.m. Officers located several juveniles in the area of Meredith St. and Guy St. walking after the city’s curfew hours. Officers picked up the subjects and escorted them to the police department. The juveniles’ guardians were contacted and picked them up.

11:51 a.m. Officers were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft of a cellphone. Officers met with the victim and a search of the area was made. The phone was located and returned to the owner.

12:44 p.m. Officers were dispatched to a business in the 500 block of E. Broad St. in reference to harassment. Officers spoke to the complainant who also is a delivery person for that location. The man stated that a store employee continues to harass him when he arrives to make his deliveries. Officers spoke to all parties involved and the harassing communications between the two will cease.  

12:46 p.m. A suspicious person was reported in the 1700 block of West Loop 564. The caller stated that a known person was running around with a crossbow and with no shoes and needed police intervention. The area was checked by numerous officers for a lengthy period of time. The subject was later located and was found to be in the care of a responsible family member. 

2:50 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Kilpatrick St. in reference to a criminal mischief call. The caller stated that sometime during the night that a person entered onto her property and damaged a yard sign. The actor also damaged a rain gauge. The case is under investigation

2:57 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the Cheek St. railroad crossing in reference to found property. Officers found a set of golf clubs in a golf bag. A possible owner was listed in the officers’ report. Investigation continues. 

3:21 p.m. Officers received information from a man that his wheels and tires had been removed from his vehicle while it was being repaired. The information provided was lacking details to complete a theft report. The owner was requested to bring additional dates and times before a theft report could be made. Investigation continues.

3:45 p.m. Officers responded to the 300 block of E. Broad St. in reference to a theft of gasoline. After speaking to the store clerk it was found that a vehicle had left the store without paying for gas. Officers made contact with the driver and the store received the funds that were owed. No charges filed.

5:49 p.m. Officers received a loud music call in the 300 block of E. Broad St. Officers responded to the area and found a vehicle with its music on. The noise was determined to be excessive and the driver was requested to turn it down.

6:17 p.m. Andre Sandlin, 27, of Quitman was arrested for possession of a stolen firearm. After a standard check was completed on the handgun that was found in Sandlin’s possession, the handgun showed to have been stolen out of Rains County.

8:51 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Phillips St. in reference to found property. Upon officers’ arrival a hunting bow with arrows was found in a ditch. The bow and arrows are believed to belong to a man that officers were looking for on an earlier call. The property was taken to the police department for safe keeping. Contact will be made with the possible owner.

9:56 p.m. Officers were called to the 100 block of Circle Drive in reference to a fraud case. After further investigation the caller was found to have been a victim of scam.  A report was made and forwarded to investigations to be followed up.
