Mineola Police Report

July 16

12:45 a.m. A burglary of a business was reported in the 500 block of W. Broad St. A window was found to be broken when an employee arrived to work. It was then discovered that items had been removed from the building. Investigators were called. 

6:14 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block on Bromberg St. in reference to a disturbance. The caller advised that his girlfriend was upset and they were arguing. Officers talked with everyone at the residence and determined that no offense had been committed. The two separated for a period of time.

9:33 a.m. A man stated that he dropped a $100 bill out of his pocket at a business at 1200 block N. Pacific St.  The man talked with employees and located the man who had picked up his money. Officers made contact with the man and the money was returned. 

9:58 a.m. A Laura St. resident fell victim to a phone scam that has been traced to New York. The reporting party received a phone call stating a family friend was in jail out of state and was needing money to be released on bail. Money was withdrawn from an account and sent Western Union.  A fraud report was made by officers.  

1:58 p.m. An apartment manager in the 1200 block of Bromberg St.  reported an ex-tenant was at the location and had been asked to leave. Officers met with the man, issued a criminal trespassing warning and advised that he would be arrested if he returned to the property.   

5:07 p.m. A resident on W. McDonald reported a grey minivan occupied with a male and female taking pictures of homes in the area. It was found that the pair was contracted by a surveying company to take pictures of homes inside the Mineola city limits. The two employees were cleared to work in the area by City Hall and remained in the city for two days. 

7:57 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block on Bromberg St. in reference to a disturbance. The caller advised that her boyfriend was upset and they were arguing. Officers talked with everyone at the residence and determined that no offense had been committed. The two departed and went their separate ways.

8:34 p.m. A towing company reported they were called to unlock a vehicle in the 1400 block of S. Pacific and the customer was refusing to pay for the service. The caller stated he took the keys and placed them back in the vehicle and locked the door. Dispatch received a call from the customer stating a towing company relocked his keys in the vehicle. Officers talked with the men involved and an agreement was made. 

9:02 p.m. A Van Zandt County officer reported he had stopped a reckless driver in the 100 block of E. Broad St. after witnessing the driver almost cause an accident. Mineola officers meet with the Van Zandt County officer. The driver was issued traffic citations and released to a licensed driver.  

July 17

1:25 a.m. A resident in the 500 block of W. Blair St. reported someone banging on his door but no one was there. Officers checked the area and made a traffic stop on W. Kilpatrick St. with a vehicle believed to be involved with the “knock and go.” Driver of the vehicle received citations. No other reports were made. 

8:13 a.m. Child Protective Services reported a possibly indecency with a child case. The case is being reviewed. 

2:16 p.m. An assault was reported in the 100 block of Francis St. Officers found that several people were involved. An argument over trash between property units escalated into a psychical altercation.  Four subjects received citations for simple assault.  

3:46 p.m. An officer talked with a man in reference to him receiving an out of state toll bill for a vehicle he traded into a dealership. The man contacted the dealership but he was unable to obtain the needed information. The man was directed to reach out to the toll department that issued the fines.

July 18

4:10 p.m. Dispatch received a call from a hospital’s emergency room nurse reporting a dog bite. The nurse stated a man was treated for a bite on the finger. Officers met with the victim when returning home on Nancy St. The man stated he was attempting to break up a fight between two dogs and was bit. A report was made and the dog was quarantined. 

11:34 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Sycamore St. in reference to an ex-boyfriend on the property refusing to leave. The man had left the property prior to officer’s arrival. The caller was advised to contact the department if he returned. 

July 19

7:54 a.m. An assault was reported between siblings at a residence in the 600 block of Hogg St. The woman stated her adult brother had struck her. The two were separated prior to officer’s arrival. The woman did not wish to file charges and a waiver of non-prosecution was signed. 

1:58 p.m. Officers were requested in the 300 block of Read St. for an altercation. Officers talked with the reporting party and were advised the other person left the property. The caller explained it was a verbal argument and no action was needed. 

6:59 p.m. A verbal disturbance was reported in the 100 block of Stone St. The caller stated a group of juveniles were in the middle of the roadway yelling. Officers reported that after speaking to the juveniles that they were just talking and they had since moved out of the roadway. It was determined that no offense had occurred. 

9:38 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance when someone reported several juveniles being chased down the roadway by other juveniles threatening harm in the 700 block of Goodson Circle. 

July 20

8:34 a.m. The police department was informed by another law enforcement agency about a person obtaining prescriptions by using a false doctor’s note. The person is trying to fill the prescriptions at local pharmacies. The suspect has been identified, and multiple agencies are working the case. 

12:32 p.m. An officer talked with a truck driver on Short St. that was stopped for driving through a residential area. The driver stated that he was lost and needed directions. The officer escorted the truck driver back out and onto the highway. 

12:55 p.m. A business owner in the 100 block of E. Broad St. reported receiving a threat from a unknown male over the internet. The owner stated the male subject believed he was a client of the business but was not. Officers spoke with the owner and advised to contact the department if any other communication was made in a threatening manner. No report was made. 

6:53 p.m. A Lindale woman reported that her credit card was used at several Mineola businesses.  She stated her wallet was stolen and a report was made in the city it was stolen from. Officers completed a fraud report and forwarded this case to investigation. A possible suspect was listed. 

11:56 p.m. Officers were requested in the 700 block of Stone St. when a woman reported she was in an argument with another woman. The caller stated that a window had been busted out of a vehicle. Officers talked with the parties involved and no one wished to file charges. A waiver of non-prosecution was signed by both parties.  

July 21

8:48 a.m. A one-vehicle accident was reported at the Mineola Nature Preserve. The caller stated a car had driven through a fence after leaving the parking area. The vehicle proceeded across the grassy area coming to rest after striking a tree. Officers found the driver out of the vehicle. EMS was requested to the scene to check on the driver. An accident report was completed.

11:32 a.m. A man talked with an officer about a possible internet scam. The local man stated he had made a purchase over the internet and a questionable e-mail was received in reference to the delivery. The man was requested to follow up with the department if his order failed to arrive. 

12:47 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of S. Johnson St. in reference to a runaway. Officers and detectives met with the parents and a search of the area was conducted. After further investigation the juvenile was located and found to be OK. The juvenile returned home a short time later.   

2:46 p.m. CPS requested a welfare check on a couple in the 1200 block of Bromberg St. The couple had been reported as having a verbal argument for several hours. Officers talked with the couple who stated that they had a disagreement that took place earlier that day.  One of the parties decided to leave the property for the rest of the day.

5:03 p.m. Two teens were observed traveling on the passenger train. One of the train’s employee became concerned when no adult was observed traveling with the teens. Officers went to the depot and talked with the juveniles. A parent was contacted and it was found that the teens did have permission to travel and that the parents were aware of what was going on. 

8:15 p.m. Richard Delwin Gregory, 56 of Mineola was arrested for public intoxication. Gregory was reported walking down Sycamore St. with a beer in one hand and he was also reported as being unsteady of his feet. Officers located Gregory and a series of standard field sobriety test was attempted. Gregory was placed into custody without incident. 

July 22

1:58 a.m. An unsecure door was reported on a house in the 200 block of Krause St.  The home was checked by officers and no criminal activity was found. 

6:34 a.m. An officer was requested to speak with a woman in the 800 block of N. Johnson St. The woman stated when she walked outside she found clothes and hangers left around her vehicle. It was found that an ex-boyfriend had left the clothing. 

9:56 a.m. Officers checked the welfare of a driver who’s driving was noted as being concerning. The officer was able to get the vehicle stopped on Country Club Drive. After speaking to the driver it was found that she was just driving extra slow and trying to be extra cautious. The driver was released from the scene after check was completed. 

4:23 p.m. A man requested to speak with officers after a road rage incident that occurred while driving into Mineola from Hwy. 69 north. The man reported that a gold vehicle was passing vehicles on the right shoulder of the roadway. The caller stated that he moved his truck over blocking the car to keep it from passing. The man stated that he and the other driver pulled over and stopped in the 400 block of Greenville Hwy. The two had words and then the driver of the gold vehicle pulled a gun from his pocket. The man then left the location heading south of Pacific St. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the gold car. A report was filed and this case is under investigation. 

6:18 p.m. An Edwards St. residence reported someone dumping tree limbs and debris on their property.  A directive patrol was issued for the location. 

6:24 p.m. A fraud case was reported when a man on N. Johnson St. reported that his online girlfriend had sent him cards in other people’s names. The cards had money issued to them. Officers made a report of the incident, however no fraud took place in Mineola. The information will be forwarded to other departments in other states.
