The Berkeley Big Bass Tournament is scheduled to take place on Lake Fork from Oct. 19 - Oct. 20. Prizes include 2 Skeeter ZX boats, in addition to hourly prizes. All contestants must use Berkley bait only. Entry fees are $120 for one day, and $170 for both days. Anglers can register on Friday, Oct. 18 from noon to 8:00 p.m., and on Oct. 19 and Oct. 20 from 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. See basschamps.com for additional information and rules, or call 817-439-3274.

The first annual Quitman Lake Fork Kiwanis Club Golf Ball Drop is set to take place on Oct. 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wood County Airport. Golf balls can be purchased for $5, and all proceeds benefit Kiwanis International's Eliminate Project (which provides tetanus shots to mothers and children in third world countries) as well as programs for local children. 1st prize is $100; 2nd prize is $75, and 3rd prize is $50. Winnsboro's monthlong Autumn Trails Festival is set to begin Oct. 20. The festival includes arts and crafts, a BBQ cookoff, sidewalk sales, and an antique car parade/ competition. Call the Autumn Trails Association at 903-342-1958 for more information.

The Wood County Genealogical Society celebrates its 30th anniversary on Oct. 21 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Quitman Public Library. Door prizes will be awarded, and the public is invited to attend.

The Marina at Lake Quitman is under new ownership. Robert and Krystle Merry announced the marina's RV spots are fully functional, with water and electricity. The spots can be rented for $20 a night. For more information, call 214-356- 4902.
