DECEMBER 26, 2018

At 8 a.m. a purse was found at the end of Sycamore Street. The owner was located and reported it. It apparently fell from the top of a vehicle, but noting was missing from the purse.

At 8:03 a.m. a welfare concern was reported when a man was found sleeping in his vehicle at a business on East Broad Street. He was playing on his phone and fell asleep.

At 11:44 a.m. a child’s purse was found at the tiny train depot and turned in to the department. Police are still looking for the owner.

At 2:52 p.m. a disturbance was reported on West Broad Street. Officers responded and found the adult son was upset because he wanted some cigarettes. They were separated and no assault took place.

At 3:16 p.m. officers assisted on a one vehicle rollover on Hwy 80 West after the driver called 911 needing help because she had children in the car.

At 6:04 p.m. a landlord filed a theft report when a renter on East Broad Street moved out and took an air conditioner unit that allegedly did not belong to them.

At 9:38 p.m. a resident on Meredith Street reported she was in an argument with a family member that was visiting and refusing to leave. Officers arrived and the family member left for the night.

DECEMBER 25, 2018

At 6:19 p.m. a gun was reportedly stolen from a residence on West Blair Street.

At 7:10 p.m. officers assisted EMS on Stone Street with a medical call.

DECEMBER 24, 2018

At 8:55 a.m. a reckless driver was reported on North Pacific Street. The officer stopped the vehicle but witnessed no reckless driving.

At 12:03 p.m. a welfare concern was reported on East Broad Street for two children not seat belted. An officer responded to the call but did not find the vehicle.

At 3:17 p.m. A reckless driver was reported that was unable to maintain a single lane of traffic on South Pacific Street. An officer stopped the vehicle on South Pacific Street. The driver said they had hit a hog a couple of days before and the steering was damaged. The officer did not witness a violation.

At 3:34 p.m. a burn violation was reported at Francis and Carolyn Street. An officer responded to the call and the violator put the fire out.

At 6:21 p.m. a disturbance was reported on Krause by an anonymous caller that could hear someone screaming. Officers responded and both parties denied any assault. The man and woman were separated for the night.

At 8:06 p.m. A reckless driver with Oklahoma plates was reported on South Pacific Street that was under the speed limit and unable to maintain a single lane of traffic. Officers were able to get the vehicle stopped on South Pacific Street. The driver showed no signs of intoxication and advised he is tired from a long drive.

At 9:38 p.m. a resident at Mineola Senior Community on Newsom Street reported an audible alarm. Officers arrived and found the alarm was going off inside an apartment. They had to force entry in order to check on the resident that was transported to the hospital by EMS.

DECEMBER 23, 2018

At 2:05 a.m. a resident on West Blair Street reported someone moving their laser light display from their yard to the porch.

At 8:37 p.m. it was reported fireworks were being shot on Country Club Drive. The officer found the fireworks were in the country.

At 11:17 p.m. loud music was reported coming from the Venue on Sycamore Street. An officer asked the party to turn the music down and they did.

DECEMBER 22, 2018

At 1:21 a.m. a disturbance was reported on Giles Street when screaming could be heard. When officers responded they found the family had been told about a death in the family and were mourning.

At 2:25 a.m. Eugene Lee Lambreth, 44, of Mineola, was arrested for city warrants for driving while license invalid and a failure to appear. He turned himself in at the police department.

At 10:40 a.m. a burglary was reported at Perkins Rental on West Broad Street. A power washer and cash were stolen. This is under investigation.

At 12:42 p.m. a person witnessed a man take a tool from the back of a white Ford pickup in the Walmart parking lot and then jump into his pickup and speed off. Officers went to the scene to find the victim and vehicle and the tool that was taken. They could not locate it and the suspect vehicle was not located, but a good description was given.

At 3:51 p.m. a reckless driver was reported on Hwy 69 North speeding in excess of 80 mph and running vehicles off the roadway. An officer did get the vehicle stopped on North Pacific Street and found it to be an elderly man that was disoriented. EMS was contacted but the man refused medical treatment. A family member was contacted and the man was released to his family.

At 6:27 p.m. Fireworks being shot was reported on Nuss Drive. Officers could not find the source of the fireworks.

At 8:35 p.m. a suspicious person was reported at the Valero on South Pacific Street. When an officer checked on a man walking around vehicles and the store he found it was an employee looking for his phone and looking in other employees vehicles with permission.

At 11:18 p.m. a resident on South Stone Street reported a Christmas projector light stolen from their yard.

DECEMBER 21, 2018

At 10:15 a.m. a welfare concern was reported on two children that were outside at South and Front streets sitting on a bale of hay against a metal building, both with no shoes and one did not have a shirt on. When an officer responded to check on the children they were at their residence on South Street in appropriate clothing.

At 11:34 a.m. a disturbance between neighbors was reported on Padgett Street over a pit bull dog that was out and the neighbors did not feel safe. Officers responded and spoke with both parties and the neighbors went their separate ways.

At 12:20 p.m. a disturbance between neighbors was reported again on Padgett Street. An officer responded to the call and spoke with the neighbors again and they went their separate ways.

At 2:16 p.m. a woman reported leaving her wallet at the Dollar Tree and did not know if it was lost or stolen. The woman called back on December 24 and the wallet was turned in at the service desk at Walmart with everything in it.

At 4:07 p.m. a burglary of a habitation was reported on Kraus Street. The resident reported the door open when he arrived home and jewelry missing. No forced entry was noted by the officer.

At 11:24 p.m. Levi Lynn Moss, 30, of Mineola was arrested for criminal trespassing at Walmart. Moss had previously been trespassed from the store and management noticed him inside the store.

DECEMBER 20, 2018

At 12 a.m. Christopher Steven Jones, 30, of Quitman was arrested for driving while license suspended and expired registration after he was stopped on Greenville Hwy. for the expired registration.

At 2:19 a.m. Officers assisted Smith County by looking for a subject that was involved in a disturbance that might drive through the city. The subject was last found by Van Zandt County.

At 6:26 a.m. a reckless driver was reported coming into the city from Hwy 69 North. An officer responded to the area but did not locate it.

At 11:23 a.m. a welfare concern was investigated when an elderly woman called 911 and indicated she was kidnapped. The woman was located shortly after at her residence at Autumn Wind Court. Her son was there with her.

At 7:30 p.m. Matthew Dennis Carabello, 23, of Mineola was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from a December 18 assault that took place in the 400 Blk. Peachtree Street. Carabello was with another male subject when a fight was reported, and Carabello fired two shots with a handgun.

At 9:58 p.m. Jose Juan Vargas, 36 of Mineola, was arrested for driving while license suspended (enhanced) and possession of a controlled substance under 1 gram (Meth) after he was stopped on West Broad for an obscured license plate.
