Mineola Police Report, Feb. 6-12

Feb. 6

2:39 a.m. While an officer was conducting routine patrol, he noticed a hatch to a vehicle open at a residence on Harris St. The officer made contact at the resident and found the hatch was accidentally left open.

8:11 a.m. An employee at a salon on N. Pacific St. reported someone dumping trash. An officer determined that the owner had given someone permission to leave the trash there.

11:43 a.m. A concerned citizen reported a woman lying on the ground at the parking lot of CVS. When an officer responded it was determined to be a female that had been walking and was feeling weak. EMS was contacted and she was transported by EMS to the hospital.

10:27 p.m. A Smith County off duty officer reported a reckless driver coming into the city from Lindale. The off duty officer stopped the vehicle at CVS. A field sobriety test was conducted on the driver, with no signs of intoxication.

Feb. 7

7:56 a.m. A disturbance was reported at Chevron between a man and the clerks. The man was criminally trespassed from the store.

8:18 a.m. A burglary of a vehicle was reported at a residence on Pegues St. A laser self-leveling level was stolen. The vehicle was left unlocked.

4:18 p.m. A hit and run was reported by Smith County. Smith County advised the suspect left in a pickup with front end damage, heading northbound on 69 South. An officer responded to the city limits, but never observed the vehicle. 

4:21 p.m. A caller reported a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed coming into the city on West Broad Street. An officer observed the motorcycle but did not observe a violation.

6:00 p.m. Officers were requested at the Walmart parking lot for a custody issue with a teenager. The teenager did not wish to go with the parent. After officers arrived, the two parents came to an agreement.

11:20 p.m. Officers assisted Walmart by conducting a walk-through of the store when some teenagers were running around the store.

Feb. 8

1:42 p.m. An officer conducted a funeral escort from First Baptist Church to Cedar Memorial Gardens. 

3:28 p.m. A caller reported a man pulling a trailer losing part of his load on W. Broad St. An officer located the vehicle, so the load could be secured. Nothing was located in the roadway.

7:00 p.m. A resident on Line St. reported he was being harassed by a person he did some work for on a 4-wheeler. The complainant reported the man keeps coming onto his property. The complainant was advised if the man came back to contact the police department to have a criminal trespass issued.

Feb. 9

12:06 a.m. Loud music was reported in the area of Ivey and Graham St. An officer responded but did not locate the loud music. The reporting party stated the music was turned down after police were called.

12:18 a.m. Wood County S.O. requested assistance when a caller reported a pickup had hit their pickup while traveling southbound on Loop 564 toward Hwy. 80. Officer responded to the area to assist, but did not locate the vehicles.

8:41 a.m. An officer assisted EMS with a medical call at a resident on N. Newsom St.

4:56 p.m. A man reported he might have left his cell phone at Pizza Hut and he can’t find it. 

5:14 p.m. An officer responded to a residence on University St. when children were playing on 911. Several calls were received from the children. A parent was notified and took the phone from them.

7:11 p.m. A resident on Line St. reported the same man came back to his residence harassing and threatening him. An officer made contact with the subject who was coming onto the complainant’s property and the man said he understood and he would not be back.

10:24 p.m. Officers responded to a one vehicle accident at Loop 564 and W. Broad St. The female driver of the vehicle was arrested by DPS for DWI. 

Feb. 10

9:04 a.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on Walnut St. A female reported her boyfriend slammed her head against the wall and choked her. Alex Jordan Palmer, 27, of Mineola was arrested for felony-assault family violence impeding breathing. 

1:21 p.m. A wallet was found in the mailbox receptacle at Walmart by the Postal Service. The wallet was turned over to the police department and the owner picked it up. 

4:08 p.m. A man was reportedly going through the dumpster at Brookshire’s. An officer issued a verbal warning. 

Feb. 11

10:50 a.m. An officer assisted the Wood County constable at the train depot, involving a male on the inbound train from Longview who appeared suspicious to Amtrak. The man and his bag was searched and nothing was found.

11:06 a.m. A Yantis man who banks at a local bank reported fraudulent charges on his account. A quick response from the bank kept the charges from going through.

12:27 p.m. A resident on Mimosa reported someone had left their vehicle in her driveway that was broke down. An officer advised her of her options. The resident was going to give the owner of the vehicle a bit longer to get the vehicle moved.

12:33 p.m. Wood County S.O. turned over a sexual assault case to investigators after determining the alleged act occurred in the city.

2:19 p.m. Officers responded to a landlord/tenant dispute at a residence on West Blair St. 

4:18 p.m. A grandfather on Stone St. reported his grandson stole money from him. While the officer was there speaking with the grandfather, he requested EMS. EMS responded to check the grandfather out, but he refused transport.

5:53 p.m. EMS requested assistance from an officer at a residence on Wren St. When the officer arrived EMS did not need assistance and the resident went willingly for treatment.

Feb. 12

10:47 a.m. A resident on Stone St. reported his grandson had taken money from him. A theft report was completed.

4:26 p.m. An attempted burglary of the currency machine at Carwash USA was reported. This is under investigation. Nothing was taken, but the machine was damaged.

5:48 p.m. An officer responded to a residence on Blair St. for a tenant/landlord dispute that occurred the day before. 

6:29 p.m. An officer was requested at UT Health Clinic when a person was causing trouble in the lobby. An officer responded and called a family member to pick the person up. 

9:53 p.m. Wood County S.O. requested assistance when they located a vehicle submerged in water with the airbags deployed, with no one around the vehicle. Officers contacted the owner at a residence on N. Pacific St. to make sure they were OK and to have them go back to the scene.

10:40 p.m. A disturbance was reported by a man that said his wife was intoxicated and yelling at him while they were parked in the parking lot of Walmart. Officers responded and determined no offense occurred.
