Mineola Police Report, Jan. 16-22

2:38 a.m. Wood County S.O. requested assistance to back up a deputy until other deputies could arrive on 69 South. When the officer arrived, the subject was in custody.

1:06 p.m. A father of a 6-year-old child called for a welfare check because he was told the child threw some gasoline in a fire and it blew up in his face. The officer determined the child did not live there anymore and had moved into Wood County. An officer contacted UT Health and determined a child was seen and discharged. The officer contacted the father and advised him of his findings.

2:46 p.m. An unauthorized use of a vehicle was reported by a man in prison that occurred in 2017. The officer determined that further information is required to start the investigation.

4:25 p.m. A report of an intoxicated driver was received. An officer stopped the vehicle at W. Blair and Line St. Jerry Wayne Sanders, 69, of Mineola, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

10:16 p.m. An officer observed a vehicle with the passenger door open. The officer contacted the owner at a residence on W. Buchanan St. The vehicle had been rummaged through, but the owner did not find anything missing. The vehicle doors were left unlocked.

Jan. 17

10:12 a.m. A welfare concern was reported for a care-giver who did not show up for a few days. An officer responded to the residence and determined the caregiver was sick but refused EMS.

11:10 a.m. A burglary of a vehicle was reported on W. Buchanan St. The vehicle was left unlocked and a checkbook was taken. This is under investigation.

11:33 a.m. A wallet and other items were located in the roadway at Dubose and Sycamore St. It was determined that an unlocked vehicle was burglarized on Dubose Street. The property was returned to the owner.

4:14 p.m. A concerned person reported a juvenile that got off a bus on N. Newsom St. and ran toward the Senior Apartments. The juvenile was located on Wigley St. and transported to his residence on N. Newsom.

4:32 p.m. A citizen reported hearing gun shots in the area of Carolyn Street. An officer was able to find a witness and the person that discharged the weapon was given a citation.

9:31 p.m. A reckless driver was reported coming into the city from the Alba area on Hwy 69. An officer with assistance of a Wood County deputy stopped the vehicle on Greenville Ave. No sign of intoxication was detected.

Jan. 18

8:40 a.m. An officer assisted SWEPCO and the fire department when an electric pole was down with wires across the roadway on English St.

12:41 p.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on University St. The complainant stated the landlord was attempting to make him leave his girlfriend’s residence. An officer responded and determined this to be a civil issue and it was verbal only.

2:07 p.m. A debit card was found in an ATM at a bank on W. Broad St. The card was turned in to the department. The owner was located and she picked up the card.

7:05 p.m. A resident on Dubose Street reported a known person he had trespassed from his property to be out walking around with a stick in his hand and then observed the person on his property. A case report was filed and is under investigation. An officer patrolled the area but did not find the subject.

9:43 p.m. Golden Chick reported a person digging the cigarette butts outside of the business and walking around the parking lot. Officers located the subject, but the business at the time declined to request a criminal trespass warning.

10:41 p.m. A complainant reported someone going through her vehicle while parked at a residence on W. Blair St. The vehicle was left unlocked. The complainant did not find anything missing and could not give a description of the suspect.

11:14 p.m. A second loud music call was received in the area of the McFarland Center. An officer asked for the music to be turned off.

Jan. 19

6:16 a.m. A gate was reported open at the bus barn when an officer was patrolling the area. The MISD Police were contacted. 

11:32 a.m. A welfare concern was reported by callers that observed a male subject acting strange by walking in the street. The concerned parties reported the man was carrying a tackle box, tool box and pushing a dolly. The officer attempted to locate the subject in the area. He was located at his residence and he had a dolly. It has not been determined if the dolly was stolen.

12:46 p.m. An officer was requested to a residence on University St. in reference to a man wanting to speak about issues he was having with a girlfriend.

1:37 p.m.  Loud music was reported at the car wash on E. Broad St. An officer responded and asked the subject in a vehicle to turn the music down.

3:53 p.m. Tara Elizabeth Cooper, 33, of Quitman was arrested for theft over $100 under $750 when Walmart reported the suspect in the store getting items and getting cash back with an old receipt.

11:21 p.m. An officer moved debris out of the roadway at N. Newsom and Ivey St.

Jan. 20

4:31 a.m. A resident on Harris Street reported he caught three males trying to break into his vehicle. A wallet was taken from the vehicle. This is under investigation.

5:56 a.m. A bicycle was stolen from the porch of a residence on Read St. The complainant reported their vehicle was broken into a few weeks ago as well. This is under investigation.

6:53 a.m. An 18 wheeler parked behind the convenience store on E. Broad St., and the driver was asleep while blocking the oil pumps. An officer spoke with the driver to have him move to another location.

12:16 p.m. An officer assisted on a reported grass fire at Wiesner Airport.

2:00 p.m. A man called to report that he had hit a vehicle in the parking lot of McDonald’s but had to get to work. An officer responded to McDonald’s looking for the vehicle that was described. The officer was not able to locate the vehicle but took the insurance information in case someone reported damage to their vehicle.

7:20 p.m. Jimmie Don Compton, 45, of Mineola, was arrested for driving while license invalid, no proof of financial responsibility, expired registration and displaying wrong or fictitious insignia, after an officer witnessed him lock up his brakes in the middle of the roadway on Greenville Ave., and the officer knew he did not have a valid driver’s license.

11:14 p.m. Christopher Glenn Booker, 32, of Wills Point, was arrested during a traffic stop on E. Broad St. for possession of drug paraphernalia and two local  traffic warrants after he was stopped for speeding.

11:52 p.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on W. Buchanan St. Kerstein Riley Harbinson-Daigre, 30, of Mineola, was arrested for assault Class C family violence. The victim of the family violence was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Jan. 21

10:14 a.m. A family member reported their daughter was threatening to harm herself. She had left the residence in a vehicle. Wood County and officers looked for the vehicle, but when the family member was contacted back, she had made it home and the family member was speaking with her.

1:16 p.m. A theft of the lantern light from the caboose on Commerce St. was reported.

3:15 p.m. A fraudulent check was passed at a bank on N. Pacific St. This is under investigation.

6:44 p.m. A caller reported an 18 wheeler parked in the roadway at Graham and E. McDonald St. An officer checked on the vehicle and it was moved out of the roadway.

Jan. 22

5:51 a.m. A vehicle burglary was reported on Pegues St. The vehicle was left unlocked, with no forced entry. A wallet and a handgun were taken from the vehicle. This is under investigation.

6:34 p.m. A burglary of a vehicle was reported on W. Blair St. The vehicle had no forced entry and was left unlocked.

8:19 p.m. A business on W. Broad St. requested a criminal trespass warning to a male that continues to come to the business and act strangely.
