January 30

8:18 a.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on North Line Street. When officers arrived it was determined to be verbal between a woman and her boyfriend. The two separated for the day.

8:41 a.m.  An officer was flagged down on North Line Street in reference to a torn window screen. A directed patrol was issued.

January 29

10:27 a.m.: A theft of a clothing rack in front of Hair Superior was reported. The officer spoke with the person that took the rack and found there was a misunderstanding. The rack was returned.

4:56 p.m. A disturbance was reported on Padgett Street. Upon the officer’s arrival it was determined to be a verbal disturbance and the female was refusing to leave. 

7:27 p.m. A disturbance was reported on Hogg Street between a teenager and a parent. When officers arrived it was determined to be verbal only.

9:04 p.m. A family member reported a verbal disturbance on Padgett Street again. When officers arrived the tenant denied anything going on.

January 28

12:27 p.m. Officers assisted MISD Police Department regarding a truant student on Hogg Street. The student was transported to the school. 

2:19 p.m. A man on Wigley Street reported being harassed by a known individual that keeps driving by his residence.

3:41 p.m. A reckless driver was reported at North Pacific Street and Greenville Avenue failing to maintain a single lane of traffic. An officer responded to the call and stopped the vehicle on Bromberg Street. The officer did not observe any signs of intoxication and did not witness any traffic violations.

4:19 p.m. A disturbance was reported by a mother on Hogg Street that reported her teenage son was hollering and cursing at her. An officer responded to the residence and everything settled down.

January 27

1:05 a.m. Corby Lashase Berry, 33, of Mineola was arrested at his residence on Pegues Street for an active city traffic warrant. 

3:54 a.m. Officers assisted the Grand Saline Police Department with the transport of a juvenile to their residence after an incident at the skating rink in Grand Saline. An officer met the Grand Saline officer at the city limits to transport the juvenile to their home in the city and the juvenile was turned over to a guardian.

9:18 a.m. A welfare concern was reported by a family member about a woman on Hart Street that had her sister living with her. The officer spoke with the family member and gave them some options. 

10:34 a.m. A disturbance was reported on Hart Street involving the sister that was causing a problem earlier. The victim reported she was hit by the sister, but the victim wished to sign a non-prosecution. A report was filed for family violence purposes.

10:37 a.m. A 94 year old man was found at his residence on North Johnson Street deceased. Justice of Peace Pct. 1 Judge Tony Gilbreath pronounced the man deceased.

10:51 a.m.  A reckless driver was reported that hit a mailbox close to Walmart and left the scene. The vehicle left the city limits. Wood County S.O. was requested to assist, due to the officer out on another call.

12:44 p.m. A welfare concern was reported by EMS dispatch. The dispatcher was attempting to get in contact with the ambulance crew on Loop 564 and wished for an officer to check on them. Before an officer arrived the dispatcher reported she was able to make contact.

2:04 p.m. A civil matter was reported between a landlord and the renter. An officer spoke with both parties and everything was fine.

2:23 p.m. A business on South Pacific reported a couple in a vehicle involved in inappropriate activity. The business called back and reported the vehicle had left.

3:59 p.m. The fire department assisted an officer when a train was blocking the tracks and traffic was backed up. The train tracks were finally cleared after 30 minutes.

7:36 p.m. Melissa Marie Salazar, 34, of Quitman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance over 1 gram under 4 grams (methamphetamine) and possession of a controlled substance under 28 grams (pills), when she was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on Loop 564 for a traffic violation. 

January 26

12:39 a.m. A road rage incident was reported to officers when a man reported another vehicle tried to run him off the roadway. Both vehicles and all occupants were identified by officers. No charges were filed.

2:43 a.m. Cody Wade Reed, 32, of Mineola turned himself in on a warrant for making a false report to a peace officer. Reed’s charge was stemming from him reporting to the police department on Nov. 25, 2018, that he was shot at by another known individual while walking at Good and Newsom. During the investigation it was determined the aggravated assault with shots fired did not occur.

8:04 a.m. A report of possible gunshots in the area was reported on Ryan Street. An officer patrolled the area but did not determine the origin of the city ordinance violation.

6:26 p.m. A verbal disturbance between roommates was reported by both parties. One of the individuals is the landlord and tenant. An officer responded and recommended to the two parties to stay on their side of the residence until they can make further arrangements.

7:26 p.m. Loud music was reported on East Buchanan. An officer responded to a residence and had the resident to turn the music down.

9:45 p.m. Benjamin Elezodo Barrera, 41, of Mineola was arrested for possession of a controlled substance under 1 gram (methamphetamine) and driving while license suspended (enhanced) after he was stopped on North Pacific for a traffic violation.

January 25

9:19 a.m. A scam was reported on North Newsom when two men in two vehicles approached an elderly woman at her residence to fix her driveway by filling in the cracks with material they had in the back of the vehicle for $20. After the two finished they wanted $500. 

4:33 p.m. Officers assisted Autumn Wind Assisted Living with a resident that was wanting to walk away.

5:50 p.m. A reckless driver in a white pickup was reported on U.S. 69 South northbound headed toward the city limits that almost ran off the road and was traveling at a high rate of speed. An officer waited at the city limits and observed several white pickups, but was unable to locate one driving erratically. 

8:55 p.m. Wood County S.O. requested assistance on a reckless driver headed toward the city from the Alba area. Officers responded to the city limits, but did not locate the vehicle.

9:03 p.m. Kayce Ladoyce Johnston, 37, of Mineola was arrested for driving while license suspended (enhanced) after she was stopped on West Broad Street for a traffic violation.

10:28 p.m. A report of teenagers fighting in the backyard of a residence on West Buchanan Street was investigated by officers. Officers were unable to locate the fighting or the teenagers upon their arrival.

11:37 p.m. A narcotics search warrant was executed at the Mineola Motor Lodge. Juan Antonio Gonzalez, 40, of Mineola was arrested at the motel for possession of a controlled substance over 1 gram under 4 grams (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana under 2 ounces, and possession of a controlled substance under 28 grams (pills). Gonzalez had been under investigation for a period of time for allegedly selling meth and marijuana. An ICE hold was also placed on Gonzalez.

January 24

7:23 a.m. Officers assisted MISD Police Department with a vehicle accident on school property.

12:34 p.m. A reckless 18-wheeler driver who failed to maintain a single lane of traffic was reported coming in on West Broad Street. An officer located the vehicle and got it stopped on Loop 564 East. A warning was issued.

8:43 p.m. Walmart requested assistance with someone in the restroom hollering and hitting things. Prior to the officer’s arrival, Walmart reported the situation was under control and they did not wish to pursue any charges.
