Mineola Police Report, Jan. 30 - Feb. 5

12:05 a.m. A resident on Frances St. reported that two males were trespassing. The resident reported his son had distracted him while two teenagers came into their residence. When he found out the two ran out the back door and jumped the fence. Officers responded to attempt to locate the two teenagers, but were unable to. Officers responded to Stone St. where one of the two teenagers lives and while attempting to locate the two, one of the teenagers broke the back window out of the residence and got away. An officer caught the other teenager attempting to escape through the window. The broken window was a civil matter with the parents. Two parents were issued curfew violation tickets.

10:12 a.m. A business owner on S. Pacific St. reported someone had tampered with their cameras. A directive patrol was issued for that business.

1:46 p.m. A resident on Edwards St. reported she was receiving threatening messages from a family member who was in prison. An officer spoke with the resident and advised her to make sure to contact the prison.

2:07 p.m. Mark Edward Johnson, 35, of Mineola, was arrested on a local warrant for criminal trespass. Johnson had been previously trespassed from a resident’s property.

3:38 p.m. A business on E. Broad St. reported a male that was going through the businesses dumpster. When the employee of the business confronted the male, he took off walking parallel to the railroad tracks. An officer searched for the man but did not find him.

Jan. 31

9:43 a.m. An 18 wheeler was stalled in the roadway on S. Pacific St. Officers assisted to get the truck moved out of the roadway.

11:37 a.m. A man reported he locked his keys in the vehicle on Greenville Avenue. The man had a young child with him in the cold. The vehicle was unlocked.

2:40 p.m. A disturbance was reported over a civil matter at a business on E. Broad St. Officers responded when the owner of the business reported he had an unwanted person staying at his business. The young man that was staying there left and said he will come back later to get his property.

8:06 p.m. A resident came to the police department about her teenage daughter whom she could not get in the vehicle with her. Officers responded to a convenience store on E. Broad where the teenager was located to try to speak with her. While officers and the mother were attempting to try to get the teenager to go home, she became combative with her mother. Arrangements were made with other family members to allow her to stay at their residence until this matter could be resolved.

9:20 p.m. A burglary of coin operated machines was reported at the laundry mat on N. Pacific St. The suspect is known and charges are pending.

Feb. 1

9:29 a.m. A resident on Molly Lane reported missing a furniture dolly. A directive patrol has been placed on that residence, per the homeowner’s request.

6:23 p.m. An officer assisted a man that was at the train depot that needed a room for the night. The room was approved by Ministerial Alliance. An officer transported the man to a motel for the night.

8:12 p.m. A resident on Baker St. reported his child’s mother took the keys to his vehicle and would not return them. An officer went to the mother’s residence to speak with her. It was determined that he gave the mother of his child the keys a couple weeks ago. Officers did not make her return the keys because it was a civil matter between the two.

11:27 p.m. Officers assisted EMS on a medical call on McWhorter St.

Feb. 2

2:58 a.m. A suspicious vehicle was checked by an officer on routine patrol at Tractor Supply. An officer noted the vehicle left after contact was made.

10:39 a.m. A resident on Stone St. reported that his grandson took his money. An officer responded and spoke with the complainant. The complainant decided to not file a report.

4:47 p.m. A man turned in a wallet that was found by the ATM at a local bank. Contact was made with the person that owned the wallet and it was returned.

11:21 p.m. A man reported a welfare concern for a family member that he took home on W. Broad St. after a Super Bowl party. The man stated she was too intoxicated to leave alone and she would not go inside her residence. An officer responded and called EMS to the scene. The resident went willingly with EMS to be checked. 

Feb. 3

12:24 a.m. Officers checked on a suspicious unoccupied vehicle parked at Fun Town RV on S. Pacific St. Officer walked the premises to check for anyone on the property. No one was found.

12:28 a.m. Officers checked on an unoccupied suspicious vehicle at Toliver Ford. No one was found.

6:18 a.m. Officers assisted with a truck stuck in the ditch on Loop 564 at Country Club Drive. A wrecker responded to the scene to get the vehicle out of the ditch.

1:17 p.m. Officers assisted with a fast moving grass fire that got out of control on a “controlled burn” on NW Loop 564. Several structures were at risk with the high winds.

Feb. 4

10:28 a.m. A theft was reported at an antique store on E. Broad St.  A woman that was shopping took some merchandise and left without paying for it.

7:27 p.m. A welfare concern was reported by a family member in reference to a male that was walking at Edwards and Second Streets and refused to get in the vehicle to get medical assistance for hallucinations. Officers assisted the family member with the subject and he did willingly go with EMS.

Feb. 5

4:12 a.m. An officer assisted EMS with a medical call at a residence on N. Pacific St. The resident was transported by EMS to the hospital.

7:51 a.m. Marcus Chavye Moore, 33, of Garland, was arrested for no driver’s license and no proof of financial responsibility after he was stopped on N. Pacific St. for an expired registration.

1:03 p.m. Uriel Vicente, 26, of Shreveport, La., was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to ID (false name) when he was stopped on W. Blair St. for a defective brake light. The officer smelled marijuana when approaching the vehicle and Vicente gave a false name when the officer requested his name. Another officer that assisted on the traffic stop knew Vicente from when he lived in Mineola.

2:11 p.m. A resident on Line Street reported he started receiving threatening text messages from an unknown person after he had chatted online with a female. The resident was advised to block the numbers and contact the police department immediately if any contact continued after he blocked the numbers. A directive patrol was placed on the area and residence.

2:38 p.m. A social security card was found in the parking lot of a Mimosa St. business and turned in. A message was sent to the owner of the card.

4:04 p.m. The sale of vape pods to teenagers by an adult was reported and is being investigated. This department and MISD are working jointly on the case.

5:27 p.m. A disturbance was reported on Peachtree St. A man reported his girlfriend was yelling and hitting him. No injuries were noted and the man did not wish to pursue charges. A family violence report was completed.

8:45 p.m. A theft was reported at a residence on Wells St. This is under investigation.

9:24 p.m. An officer assisted a resident on Front St. to get a tarp on his vehicle before the weather was predicted to hit.
