January 16
At 11:07 a.m. an officer responded to a welfare concern involving 2 children that were possibly abused. The officer contacted CPS for an investigation.
At 8:39 p.m. officers and the Pct. 2 Constable had information in reference to a man with a felony warrant out of Wood County. Justin Dewayne Tave, 32 of Mineola was arrested on the warrant on Pegues Street. A passenger, Daron Levell Moore, 30, of Florida (formerly of Mineola), was arrested on a Franklin County warrant for assault and family violence by impeding breath and an on-site arrest for failing to identify himself as a fugitive from justice. Moore failed to give his legal name, because he had a warrant against him.
January 15
At 3:40 a.m. an officer assisted when a resident on Jan Street reported a carbon monoxide alarm going off. A Centerpoint Energy employee responded and found the alarm had reached its service time capacity and needed to be replaced.
At 9:03 a.m. a counterfeit $100 bill was reported by EZ Mart.
At 1:17 p.m. a postal service employee reported a welfare concern for a citizen on North Johnson Street when the residence door was ajar. Officers responded to the residence and the resident was fine.
At 3:05 p.m. a woman stopped at the police department with a medical emergency. The fire department and EMS was contacted and responded.
At 5:56 p.m. a motorist assist was reported when vehicles could not get down the street on West Front Street because a vehicle was parked in front of a residence blocking some of the roadway. An officer responded to the complaint and spoke with the resident to have them move the vehicle so traffic could flow in a safe manner.
At 8:37 p.m. a theft was reported at the Mineola Express Wash on North Pacific Street. A man placed his clothes in the washer and left for a period of time. When he returned his clothes were missing. The owner provided security footage and a suspect has been identified. This is under investigation.
At 11:41 p.m. a 911 call was received involving a reckless driver leaving Walmart heading northbound. The vehicle almost hit a trailer and was traveling on a flat tire. Officers assisted Wood County to find the vehicle. The officers were unable to locate the vehicle but did find the tire debris on the roadway and removed it.
January 14
At 2:28 a.m. Officers assisted Wood County S.O. on Hwy. 80 East with a disturbance.
At 9:51 a.m. a welfare concern was reported on Newsom Street by a home health employee that could not get a resident to the door. The fire department and EMS assisted. The resident came home while officers were there, driven by a neighbor. The resident was fine.
At 1:34 p.m. Michael Allen Padgett, 30, of Lindale was arrested for outstanding city traffic warrants when he was seen by an officer on West Broad Street.
At 1:40 p.m. a reckless driver was reported on West Hwy. 80, heading into town. An officer responded to the area, but did not find the vehicle.
At 2:18 p.m. a Chevrolet vehicle key with a Dow key chain was found by a resident on Pegues Street. The key was turned in at the department.
January 13
At 1:13 p.m. a reckless driver was reported that was failing to maintain a single lane of traffic on South Pacific Street. An officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver did not show any signs of intoxication.
January 12
At 11:05 a.m. a verbal disturbance was reported at a business in the 800 Blk. East Broad Street when a man riding a bicycle thought a customer leaving the business almost ran over him. The man left and the customer did not wish to file a report.
At 11:39 a.m. a debit card was found in the ATM at a bank on West Broad Street.
At 5:26 p.m. a suspicious package was reported in a mailbox on Phillips Street. An officer responded to the residence and looked at the package. The officer determined the package was fine.
At 6:13 p.m. Walmart reported a man tried to walk out of the store with a cart full of merchandise without paying. When the man realized a store security employee was aware, he left the merchandise and left in a vehicle. An officer was able to stop the subject and issue a criminal trespass from Walmart.
January 11
At 1:35 a.m. an officer assisted a person that struck a deer with their vehicle at South Pacific and City Limits. Wood County was notified.
At 8:12 a.m. a woman reported a man that walked out of the UT Health Clinic on North Pacific Street and started hollering at a small child and pushed the child to the ground. The woman said something to the man and he told her to mind her own business. The man was gone upon the officers arrival and it is unknown who the man was.
At 2:07 p.m. a business on North Pacific reported suspicious activity when a man was seen in the back parking lot after the employee heard a noise outside. The man jumped in a vehicle and left. A DPS Trooper was able to stop the vehicle headed toward Quitman. Nothing was found by the Trooper in the vehicle.
At 4:29 p.m. Susana Martinez Cortez, 28 of Quitman was arrested for Driving While License Suspended after an officer that had knowledge her license was suspended witnessed her driving on East Broad Street.
At 5:31 p.m. a hit and run accident was reported in the Walmart parking lot. An officer found the driver of the other vehicle. The driver indicated they did not know they had hit anyone. Insurance information was exchanged. No charges will be filed.
At 9:28 p.m. a sheriff’s department in Nebraska notified the department in reference to a man that was suicidal and had a firearm. The cell phone pinged at the Nature Preserve. Before an investigation could begin, the Nebraska sheriff’s department called back to inform the subject had left and headed north out of the city. Wood County was notified.
January 10
At 4:38 a.m. EMS requested assistance from an officer to assist in gaining entry into a residence on a medical call on Goodson Street. Once the officer arrived forced entry was not needed to gain access into the residence.
At 10:08 a.m. Brookshire’s reported a fraudulent payroll check that was returned. This is under investigation.
At 10:23 a.m. an officer assisted with an accident that occurred at 69 South and Loop 564 until a DPS Trooper arrived.
At 1:34 p.m. a reckless driver was reported coming into town northbound on 69 South. An officer responded to the area but did not locate the vehicle.
