March 26

1:01 a.m. A teenager reported he had a friend who is a 17 year old female and she has nowhere to go, because her parents would not let her come back home. An officer made contact with the female’s parent. The teenager was allowed to go back home.

10:05 a.m. A homeowner reported having an abandoned mobile home on Front St. that someone is staying in at night. A directive patrol was issued for the residence.

1:12 p.m. A disturbance was reported between a boyfriend and girlfriend at a convenience store on S. Pacific St. A woman stated her boyfriend put his hand over her mouth and she bit him and then he tried to choke her. When officers responded, the male had already left the scene. The female did not wish to file charges, but the subject, Phillip Ray Castaneda, 48, Dallas, was arrested shortly after for an outstanding warrant out of Dallas County.

3:08 p.m. A local nursing home reported fraud when a check was cashed in another state from the nursing home’s account. The check was determined to be fraudulent with the company account number.

4:34 p.m. A property owner reported a vacant residence on Wren St. has had someone trespassing and staying in the residence. The woman reported they left the doors unlocked and now they are locked. An officer made entry into the residence and found items in the residence to belong to a female. No one was present at the residence when the officers cleared it and found the items.

4:39 p.m. Loud music was reported at a residence on Turman St. An officer responded to the residence and asked the resident to turn the music down.

7:17 p.m. A resident on Newsom St. reported she was receiving text from her ex-boyfriend that made her feel uneasy. She did not wish to pursue charges but requested an officer speak with him. An officer attempted contact with the ex-boyfriend several times without a return call. The complainant reported she had not received any messages since the officer attempted contact.

7:39 p.m. A gas drive off was reported at a convenience store on E. Broad St.

9:07 p.m. A woman reported her husband’s cell phone stolen while shopping at a local store.

10:12 p.m. A group of people hanging out in the Walmart parking lot was reported. An officer responded and determined the small group to be friends who had just eaten at Whataburger.

March 27

12:01 a.m. An officer checked on a couple of teenagers at the Civic Center. The two left after the officer advised them the park was closed.

3:16 a.m. A convenience store on N. Pacific St. reported a suspicious person sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot for a long period of time. An officer checked on the person out of Louisiana and they left the store parking lot.

4:44 a.m. A theft was reported at Walmart that was captured on surveillance.

11:13 a.m. A wallet was found at the old football field on Dubose St. The wallet was returned to the owner.

2:52 p.m. A theft was reported at Walmart. The amount of theft was under $100, so the female was issued a citation.

3:40 p.m. A theft was reported at Walmart. The 15 year old male was released.

6:25 p.m. A reckless driver was reportedly headed into the city from Lindale. Lindale P.D. reported the person was drinking a beer while driving when they received the call. Officers were able to get the subject stopped at S. Pacific St. at the city limits. Officers conducted a field sobriety test and no signs of intoxication were present.

8:38 p.m. A vehicle was stalled in the middle of the roadway on S. Pacific St. An officer helped to get the vehicle off the street and into a parking lot.

9:59 p.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on Stone St. A 15 year old juvenile was placed under arrest for assault with bodily injury family violence. The subject was released to a family member and then picked up the following day and processed with juvenile probation for robbery, since the juvenile was attempting to steal money when he assaulted a family member. 

March 28

2:14 a.m. A business was found by officers that had an unlocked door. The property owner was notified.

2:38 a.m. A business was found by officers that had an unlocked door. The property owner was notified.

8:56 a.m. Walmart reported receiving a counterfeit bill in February. An officer took possession of the bill.

12:01 p.m. A Tyler hospital reported a dog bite victim that was being treated for a minor injury. The dog bite occurred in the city a couple of days before the woman went for treatment. The dog was quarantined at a clinic in Lindale by the owner.

8:11 p.m. An officer spoke with an estranged wife about a civil issue. She complained that her husband had been allowing his girlfriend to drive their vehicle, but now the husband is in jail. The person that has the vehicle lives in the county, so Wood County SO was notified.

March 29

1:18 a.m. An officer assisted a stranded motorist on Front St. who had a flat tire. The officer changed the tire.

2:58 a.m. Wood County S.O. requested assistance on a disturbance in the area of C.R. 2700. An officer assisted.

4:50 a.m. An abandoned vehicle was reported in the church parking lot on Stone St. An officer attempted to make contact with the owner of the vehicle on Harris Street.

11:16 a.m. A man reported his laundry basket was taken while he was doing laundry at the laundry mat on N. Pacific St.

12:16 p.m. A vehicle burglary was reported on W. Blair St. The vehicle was unlocked, with no forced entry. A car seat and a Nintendo Switch were taken.

6:55 p.m. A disturbance was reported in the Walmart parking lot involving two males. Officers responded and spoke with an employee at Walmart. They reported a receipt was checked at the door and someone got loud, but no disturbance occurred.

7:07 p.m. A wallet was reported stolen at a residence on N. Pacific St. The resident named a person of interest who could have taken the wallet.

March 30

12:40 a.m. A welfare concern was reported by a family member for an elderly resident on McDaniel St. An officer responded and checked on the resident.

1:10 a.m. A welfare concern was reported in reference to a homeless woman who had been kicked out of the family home. The woman was given shelter at a local motel by the Ministerial Alliance.

11:36 a.m. Suspicious activity was reported in the Taco Bell parking lot. It was reported that someone was smoking marijuana in a vehicle. An officer responded and determined an occupant had possession of marijuana. The occupant was written a possession of drug paraphernalia ticket. Another occupant, Amanda Nicole Jackson, 35, Grand Prairie, was arrested on a Class B bond forfeiture warrant for DWI, out of Dallas County.

7:37 p.m. A reckless driver was reportedly driving up and down Guy and Meredith Streets at a high rate of speed. An officer patrolled the area, but did not locate a black Charger that was reported in a prior incident.

March 31

6:22 a.m. Chevron reported a truck parked behind the building that was blocking the door. An officer had the truck move.

7:16 a.m. An 18 wheeler had reportedly got lost at Wren and Front St. and was attempting to turn around at the basketball court. An officer responded and got the truck headed the right way to a location in the city.

7:43 a.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on Patten St. The disturbance was two parents of a child fighting over a custody issue. A report was completed. No charges were filed.

2:16 p.m. Officers assisted the water department to block the road at N. Pacific and E. Broad St. while the department was working. 

April 1

12:49 p.m. An elderly woman was dropped off on Goodson Circle by an unknown person. Officers met with a Grand Saline P.D. officer halfway to Grand Saline on Hwy. 80, so the woman could be transported home.

11:01 p.m. A suspicious person was reportedly in a resident’s backyard on Molly Lane. Officers checked residence and the area, but did not find anyone. Officers continued to patrol the area.
