May 28

10:15 a.m. Officers and investigators responded to the 500 block of Wren St. for an unresponsive person. Officer found that the resident had passed away during the night. The justice of the peace was contacted and a death investigation was initiated.

Mineola Police Report, May 28 - June3

May 28

10:15 a.m. Officers and investigators responded to the 500 block of Wren St. for an unresponsive person. Officer found that the resident had passed away during the night. The justice of the peace was contacted and a death investigation was initiated. 

4:21 p.m. Dispatch received a call of a disturbance in progress at a business in the 100 block of N. Johnson St. Caleb Sinclair, 17, of Hawkins was arrested for assault. Sinclair was in an argument with a family member when the owner of the business requested Sinclair to leave. Sinclair then assaulted a person when leaving the business. 

May 29

1:08 a.m. Officers were requested for a motorist assist at The Arbors Apartments on Bromberg St. The officers responded to the area and assisted a woman with a car battery. The vehicle was boosted off and the officers cleared the call with a public assist.

10:12 a.m. A concerned citizen reported that they observed two small children in a vehicle left alone in a parking lot in the 1200 block of N. Pacific St. Officers located the vehicle and after making contact with the occupants an adult was present in the vehicle with the children. 

10:18 a.m. The City of Mineola water department reported a theft of bulk water from the 1800 block of N. Pacific St. A white over tan, club cab, Ford F250 truck was reported filling up a bulk water tank and leaving the area without offering to pay. This theft is under investigation.

10:20 a.m. A business owner on Debby Lane reported theft of service when a person dumped items into their dumpster without consent. Officers reviewed surveillance video and were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle. Contact was attempted. Case has been forwarded to investigation for follow up.  

11:03 a.m. A resident on Sue Lane reported that a man was going door to door asking to do roof repairs. Officers located the man, who was identified by officers and advised of the city ordinance and requirements for solicitors door to door. The subject left the area and returned to Tyler. 

5:35 p.m. A suitcase was found outside the train depot on E. Front St. The bag was turned into police. The owner was located and the property will be returned. 

7:53 p.m. Officers were requested in the 900 block of N. Johnson St. when a man reported harassing phone calls. The man stated that his ex-girlfriend was sending him messages that contained profanity. The number was blocked from his phone and no report was filed.  

9:28 p.m. Officers assisted the Mineola Fire Dept. with a gasoline spill in the 300 block of E. Broad St. 

10:11 p.m. Officers assisted a motorist with a stalled vehicle in the 1800 block of N. Pacific St. Officers assisted pushing the disabled vehicle out of the busy roadway. 

May 30

12:59 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Kevin Dr. when a man was heard yelling for help. The caller stated that she could not get to the person due to his dogs. Officers arrived and spoke to the man. The man was trying to locate his care taker and was needing help with his air conditioner. Officers assisted the man.   

6:18 p.m. A theft case was received from Walmart that occurred May16. Asset protection stated that after reviewing surveillance equipment, a suspect left the store without offering to pay for merchandise. This case is under investigation.

7:25 p.m. Police received information of two marijuana plants growing in the backyard of an abandoned house in the 200 block of Cheek St. Officers located the plants in plain sight and removed them.  

8:15 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Wren Street for a loud music complaint. The loud music was located and the property owners were talked to. The music was turned down. 

8:50 p.m. Mineola officers were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft. It was found that a woman had exited the store without offering to pay for her items. The woman was identified and a citation was issued for the offense of theft. The items were returned to the store.   

12:15 p.m. A woman reported to the police department that her husband was receiving harassing Facebook posts from a known person. After speaking to officers the subject was blocked and no further contact has been made. 

May 31

1:59 a.m. A noise disturbance from a party was reported in the 1000 block of Emily St. Officer made contact with the homeowner and the party dispersed. 

2:54 p.m. A hit and run vehicle accident was reported in the parking lot of Walmart. After further investigating the officer determined that the video surveillance would need to be reviewed. 

3:25 p.m. A possible intoxicated driver was reported coming into Mineola on N. Pacific St. Officers located the vehicle which had been discovered at a local motel.

4:13 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Stone St. for a criminal mischief report. A man stated that while he was driving across the railroad tracks he witnessed a group of juveniles throwing rocks. The driver stated that a small rock hit his windshield, causing the glass to crack. The juveniles then ran off according to the driver. This case is under investigation. 

5:21 p.m. A disturbance was reported in the 400 block of Peachtree. The caller stated that a fight had broken out and that a subject had assaulted another person. The caller also stated that the person involved would be intoxicated. Officers located the subject and found no signs of intoxication. After further investigation officers completed an assault report.  

7:26 p.m. Dispatchers received a call of several vehicles blocking the roadway in the 300 block of McDaniels St. Officers responded to the location and found two vehicles parked on the side of the roadway partially restricting the flow of traffic. Officers contacted the owners, and the vehicles were moved. 

8:28 p.m. Officers were dispatched back to the 400 block of Peachtree in reference to threats from a previous call. Officers returned only to find that the person making the threats had left. The subjects were located and criminal trespass warnings were issued.  

June 1

1:04 a.m. A woman came to the police department for information on how to have a person removed from her home who refuses to leave. Officer talked with her about the options and the steps that would need to happen. 

11:23 a.m. A store employee reported that a woman had driven into the parking lot in the 300 block of E. Broad St. and urinated outside, next to her vehicle. Officers checked the area but was unable to locate the woman or her vehicle. Wood County was also notified to be on the lookout for the suspect’s vehicle. 

1:31 p.m. A business owner at the 600 block of West Broad Street reported damage to his parking lot due to construction at a business next to his. The contractor was contacted and arrangements were made to repair the damage.

3:25 p.m. A woman stated that she had been threatened by her intoxicated husband. Officers responded to the 1500 block of Brenda Lane to speak with her. The threats were verbal and did not constitute charges being filed. 

6:04 p.m. A caller advised that his neighbor had parked a vehicle in front of his driveway and refused to move. Officers responded to the 100 block of Stone St. and spoke to the driver, who removed the vehicle from the area upon officers’ request.

7:50 p.m. A solicitor was reported in the 1000 block of N. Newsom St. The man was located and identified. The solicitor was educated on the requirements to go door to door. The man then left the area. 

7:54 p.m. Levi Moss, 32, of Mineola was arrested for a probation violation warrant. Officers were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft. Prior to the officers’ arrival a family member had paid for the items resulting in no theft charges. Moss was criminally trespassed from the store. After a wanted person check was completed, a warrant for Moss appeared as active. 

8:42 p.m. A woman reported that she had left her phone at a restaurant in the 400 block of E. Broad St. Using an app on the phone, it was discovered that the phone was in Smith County. A theft report was taken by Mineola police. The woman also followed up with the Smith County sheriff’s office. 

June 2

12:26 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of N. Johnson St. in reference to a man releasing air from the tires of the caller’s vehicle. Officer found the vehicle was registered to the man and that he wanted his vehicle to stay at that location. Caller was advised that the owner had not committed a criminal offense.

9:45 a.m. A business in the 200 block of W. Broad St. reported a fraud offense. The caller stated that the fraud had occurred on several occasions. The suspect in the fraud had returned to the business.  Officers responded to the business and were able to identify the suspect. This case is under investigation. 

10:03 a.m. A resident in the 400 block on N. Pacific St. reported that some items had been removed from an outbuilding on his property. The owner of the property found that the items were missing and contacted the police department. This case is under investigation. 

12:09 p.m. Shelby Elayne Adams, 24, was arrested in the 300 block of E. Broad St. for three outstanding Wood County Sheriff’s Office warrants. Officers were called to that location to issue a criminal trespass warning to Adams for an incident earlier in the week. 

11:06 p.m. An alarm was reported in the 700 block of Goodson Circle. Officers made contact with the resident. After further investigation EMS was requested for medical issues.

June 3

11:37 a.m. A powerline was reported down in the 600 block of W. Broad St. Officers located the line and contacted the utility for repairs. 

11:49 a.m. TxDOT reported a large pile of gravel accidentally dumped by them in the East Loop 564 and FM 1254 area. The gravel was cleared off the roadway by TxDOT workers a short time later. 

1:12 p.m. A woman in the 400 block of Sycamore St. reported that her cell phone was stolen. The caller stated that a known person was in her home when the phone came up missing. A theft report was made and this case is under investigation. 

2:04 p.m. Animal control was dispatched to the 1200 block of N. Pacific St. in reference to a pregnant cat  reportedly stuck under a washing machine. The cat was rescued by officers and later transferred to the animal shelter. 

2:29 p.m. An officer was flagged down by a concerned citizen in reference to a man hitting a curb when pulling into a parking lot. The incident occurred in the 100 block of E. Broad St. Officers talked with the man and later found that the driver was having some issues operating his vehicle. The driver was escorted to his residence by officers.

2:36 p.m. A vehicle accident was reported in the 300 block of W. Broad St.  Drivers exchanged information with no report being generated as it was on private property. 

3:25 p.m. Officers assisted the Mineola Fire Department and EMS on a medical emergency in the 900 block of University St. The subject was left in the care of EMS.   

4:30 p.m. An officer was requested to speak with the owner of a business in the 600 block of W. Broad St. Officers were advised that a contractor had bid a repair job and was demanding payment for his work. Officers advised the business owner that this issue would be a civil matter. All parties involved were instructed to contact the justice of the peace.
