NOVEMBER 28

An officer met with a woman on North Johnson in reference to a civil matter involving her daughter at 12:42 p.m. The officer found the daughter had walked away and spoke with her as well.

Bobby James Smitty, 25 of Minnesota was arrested for possession of a controlled substance under 1 gram and Raul Leonel Robles, 48 of Minnesota was arrested for possession of marijuana under 2 oz. after an officer stopped the vehicle they were traveling in on North Pacific at 11:55 p.m. for a traffic violation.

NOVEMBER 27

Aaron’s reported theft of service from three customers that have not paid their lease and did not return the property. All customers were contacted and agreed to return the property.

A reckless driver was reported at 3:42 p.m. when a pickup turned onto the railroad tracks on South Pacific Street and then went across the tracks and turned in at Cade’s. Officers responded and patrolled the area, but did not locate the vehicle.

A woman reported a welfare concern for a man that came to her residence on Buchanan Street acting strange and then walked off at 4:01 p.m. The man was last seen crossing the railroad tracks on Stone street. Officers found him on Stone Street. He was transported to the police department and then transported to a motel for the night through Ministerial Alliance.

At 5:12 p.m. officers assisted EMS on a medical call on Graham Street.

A resident on Francis Street reported hearing gunshots at 8:29 p.m. An officer responded to the area and patrolled looking and listening for the source but did not hear gunshots or the source.

A woman reported a man walking with a rifle in his hand and another one on his back in the area of North Johnson and North Pacific Street at 9:13 p.m. An officer found a man at a store on North Pacific carrying paintball guns and a bag.

A suspicious person was reported parked in a vehicle at the McFarland Community Center at 10:40 p.m. An officer checked on the vehicle and found the driver to be sitting in the vehicle waiting on a text.

An officer assisted the fire department with a call regarding a possible gas order in a residence on North Pacific Street at 11:31 p.m. Everything was fine.

NOVEMBER 26

Officers assisted Wood County by securing a scene at 1 a.m. until deputies could arrive at the Budget Inn Motel on East Hwy 80 when a woman reported she had been assaulted by a man.

A disturbance was reported on Dubose at 8:49 a.m. when a man hit the caller’s residence with a stick after the caller asked him to leave and he refused. The man was not there when officers arrived. The complainant requested a criminal trespass be issued to the subject. The criminal trespass was served.

A burglary of a vehicle was reported at 9:03 a.m. on Kings Lane when a pair of sunglasses and a girl’s bag with dance clothes and shoes were taken. The vehicle was locked.

A backpack was found on North Line Street at 9:23 a.m. that was previously reported missing and will be returned to the owner.

A wallet was placed in the drop box at the nature preserve and was returned to the owner.

A woman reported she was helping a man get fuel for his vehicle that was stranded at 3:37 p.m. While doing so he stole her cell phone from her vehicle.

A business on East Broad Street reported a disturbance at 5:26 p.m. when a customer was refusing to pay for their food. An officer responded and found the disturbance to be verbal only and the customer paid for the food.

A welfare concern was reported at 7:53 p.m. when a caller reported a van with plastic on the windows to possibly be a human trafficker. The officer located the vehicle and knew it belonged to a local citizen that he was familiar with.

Michael Lee Watts III of Sulphur Springs was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia when an officer made a traffic stop at 9:52 p.m. on NE Loop 564 for a traffic violation. Watts was a passenger in the vehicle and upon a search the officer found a syringe in Watts’ sock.

Parents of a high school student reported a possible threat of their daughter at school the following day. The incident was swiftly investigated and found it not to be a direct threat. The school was notified and will handle the situation.

NOVEMBER 25

A 911 hang up was received at 12:12 a.m. in the Front Street area. Several attempts were made to contact the caller back and an officer patrolled the area attempting to locate the caller but no contact was made.

A welfare concern was reported at 1:17 a.m. for a 16-year-old male who had reportedly been at a party and had been involved in an altercation. The juvenile was located on McDaniels Street and turned over to his parents.

A disturbance was reported on Rainbow Lane at 1:57 a.m. When officers arrived they determined a neighbor got upset because several were gathered outside at another residence next door. The neighbor was cooperative and admitted to firing a gun because he was concerned for his safety. A citation was written for disorderly conduct for discharging the firearm.

A disturbance was reported at Newsom and Good street when a man reported he was shot at twice by a passing car on Newsom Street at 10:05 a.m. The man reported he had been threatened by the suspect in the past. During the investigation it was found to be a false report. Charges are pending for the false report; however, the threats are under investigation.

A runway was reported by the parents of a 15-year-old male at 1:36 p.m. The juvenile was found by officers at a residence on Wigley Street and returned to his parents.

A business on North Pacific Street reported their Dumpster lock was cut at 2:20 p.m. A directed patrol has been issued.

A disturbance was reported when a man reported a known subject tried to run over him at the intersection in town at 3:51 p.m. Officers responded and found what the man was reporting occurred in the county.

A welfare concern was reported by a mother who requested officers to check on her adult daughter who was at her boyfriend’s residence on South Pacific Street at 7:54 p.m. Officers did check on her and she was fine.

A woman brought two cell phones to the department reported she had given a man a ride and he had left the phones in her vehicle. The man picked one phone up and said the other phone belonged to his boss. The boss was contacted and the phone was released to a family member.

A man reported a verbal disturbance between him and his girlfriend’s roommate at a residence on Patten while the roommate was gathering her belonging at 11:16 p.m. The reporting party left the residence when the officers arrived.

NOVEMBER 24

A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific Street weaving in and out of traffic at 6:19 a.m. The vehicle turned off on a side street and was not located.

A stranded motorist reported she was out of fuel and needed help at South Pacific and the city limits at 8:48 a.m. An officer transported the woman to get a gas can and get fuel.

A welfare concern was reported by a mother in reference to her adult daughter going with a man to another state at 12:54 p.m. The mother then reported her daughter was back home safe.

A business on East Broad Street reported a suspicious male hanging around the parking lot at 5:56 p.m. An officer responded and was unable to locate the subject.

A welfare concern was reported when a 911 call was received by Wood County S.O. in reference to a vehicle traveling 30 mph on Hwy 69. At 5:56 p.m. The only description was a Louisiana license plates. An officer stopped a vehicle with the same plates but determined it was not the vehicle reported.

A caller reported she wished for an officer to conduct a welfare check on her friend that was a resident on Sycamore Street at 8:36 p.m. An officer made contact and determined that everything was fine.

Loud music was reported at a residence on Baker Street at 9:07 p.m. An officer responded and spoke with the residents that turned down the music.

NOVEMBER 23

Suspicious activity was reported on Baker Street at a residence the homeowner was thought to be out of town at 6:24 a.m. The caller said the lights were on and should not be. An officer responded and found the homeowner returned home early.

A welfare concern was reported when a woman was walking in the roadway and cars were going around her at 12:10 p.m. An offer responded to South Pacific Street and gave the woman a ride to her residence.

A witness reported a shoplifter at Walmart and provided a license plate number at 11:08 p.m. The department is working with Gilmer P.D. on the same suspects to recover property. Charges are pending.

At 11:43 p.m. Stephen Lee Coop, 23 of Austin was arrested on NE Loop 564 for two outstanding warrants out of Smith County for felony probation violations.

NOVEMBER 22

Officers assisted with an emergency medical call at the CVS parking lot at 2:32 a.m. A woman met EMS in the parking lot with a family member with a medical emergency. The family member was transported by EMS to a Tyler hospital.

A reckless driver was reported at 10:19 a.m. An officer located the vehicle and followed the driver. No offense was observed by the officer.

A purse was found at the train depot that remains at the department until an owner is located.

A reckless driver was reported to be unable to maintain a single lane at North Pacific and Greenville Avenue at 5:42. An officer responded to the area and attempted to locate the vehicle but was unable to.

A 911 call was received at 7:02 p.m., but the dispatcher could not understand the caller. The call was then lost and after attempting the contact several times the officer patrolled the area of Giraud but did not find the exact location of the call.

A reckless driver who was driving with no headlights was reported on South Pacific Street at 10:14 p.m. An officer attempted to locate the vehicle and a DPS trooper was close in the area but did not see the vehicle.

A verbal disturbance was reported on West Front Street between family members during a family gathering at 11:58 p.m. Officers responded to the call and count one of the family members had left for the night.

NOVEMBER 21

A welfare concern was conducted on a resident on Park Place Street at 8:57 a.m. Everything was OK.

A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific headed southbound at 9:36 a.m. An officer responded in the area but did not find the vehicle. Lindale P.S. was notified.

A disturbance was reported in the Walmart parking lot came to the department at l0:10 a.m. between a man and woman. Officer responded and was told by both of the subjects they were arguing because she would not go in and buy him some beer and fill his prescriptions. The woman in the argument at Walmart parking lot came to the department at 12:56 p.m. and wanted to file an assault charges on her boyfriend from the argument earlier. She changed her story and said she was assaulted. A report was taken for family violence purposes. This is under investigation.

A civil matter was reported when two women were arguing over a lease between the two of them at 3:17 p.m. it was explained to the two that the matter is civil.

A welfare concern was reported in reference to a 16-year-old runaway out of Shreveport at 7:34 p.m. Officers looked for the runaway and located him at a residence just outside the city.

NOVEMBER 20

A 911 call was received from a passenger on the Amtrak train stating a female was going through her luggage. During investigation of the allegation, it was determined the suspect had an outstanding warrant out of Dallas County for violation of probation. Melanie Lashawn Farris, 41 of Dallas was arrested for the warrant. Officers did not find anything had been taken from the complainant’s luggage.
