Mineola Police Report, Oct. 10-16

9:42 a.m. A business on East Broad Street requested a woman be removed from the establishment.  An officer responded and the woman departed.

11:35 a.m. A hit and run was reported at a business on North Pacific Street. The offender was known and after officers spoke with her at her home, insurance information was provided to the complainant.

11:37 a.m. A resident on North Newsom Street reported she had adopted a dog from SPCA the day before and the dog bit her.  The dog was returned to SPCA.

6:25 p.m. An officer intervened in a dispute on Brenda Lane involving threats being levied.  The officer spoke with both parties and the threatening party was removed from the property.

6:44 p.m. An officer assisted a highway patrol officer on a traffic stop on South Pacific Street.

7:01 p.m. A welfare concern was reported for an elderly woman in the alley way behind Meadowbrook. The woman was cutting tree limbs.

Oct. 11

2:02 a.m. Following a traffic stop on North Pacific Street, a number of teenagers were given citations for possessing marijuana and beer. Parents were notified. 

7:56 a.m. A concerned citizen reported a male apparently passed out in a vehicle at Landers and Jones Streets. Officers alerted EMS and the man was transported to the hospital.

1:58 p.m. Wood County Sheriff’s Office reported a man called 911 requesting an officer at Walnut and Stone Street.  The responding officer discovered the resident required help in removing his grandson from his residence. The grandson had departed before the officer arrived. 

2:50 p.m. An officer assisted a stranded motorist with a flat tire on Greenville Avenue.

4:23 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance stemming from a vehicle repossession in the Goodwill parking lot.  The owner of the vehicle refused to exit the vehicle despite it being hooked up for a tow. Officers advised both parties. The man exited his vehicle and he was provided a voucher from Ministerial Alliance for lodging. 

7:22 p.m. Officers assisted a woman who had missed her train stop and exited the train at Mineola. 

8:07 p.m. A man approached an officer at the train station and reported that he had nowhere to stay. The officer helped the man establish contact with family members. 

9:32 p.m. Officers filed a family violence report after responding to a disturbance on West Kilpatrick Street. No charges were filed as a result of the family conflict. 

11:40 p.m. A Walmart employee reported a suspicious person wearing a trench coat repeatedly entering the store. Officers responded and identified the man. The man had been operating an iPad device in his pocket. 

Oct. 12

4:04 a.m. Officers responded to the report of a man sleeping in his car in the drive-through at Whataburger. Officers assisted the man, who was exhausted from work, in getting home. 

6:15 p.m. Citations were issued to an 18-year old driver after he sped through the civic center complex and hit a light pole with his vehicle.  The driver was stopped on Highway 80 east. Officers contacted the driver’s parents.

8:00 p.m. Officers assisted a resident of North Johnson Street who had experienced a power outage and was trying to contact SWEPCO. 

9:29 p.m. A report of fireworks being set off on Line Street was found to have been a loud truck passing by. 

11:08 p.m. Following a traffic stop on South Pacific Street, officers arrested Larry Lee Brockett, 32, of Tyler, on a Gregg County warrant.

Oct. 13

8:31 a.m. An officer responded to a verbal altercation at a church on North Newsome Street.  The parties had separated before the officer arrived.  

11:18 a.m. Officers investigated a man sitting in a vehicle on East Broad Street yelling into his phone. No malfeasance was uncovered.  

8:59 p.m. Officers responded to a family disturbance between a mother and daughter on Bromberg Street. After counselling the two parties, the incident was resolved. 

Oct. 14

5:31 p.m. A resident on University Street found a gun while digging in her yard. The gun, which appeared to have been in the ground for a long period of time, was turned over to the police department. 

9:18 p.m. A woman reported receiving harassing text messages. An officer responded and advised her regarding possible actions. 

11:04 p.m. An officer responded to an intoxicated man at Walmart. An acquaintance took further responsibility for the drunken man. 

Oct. 15

1:28 p.m. After receiving information of two individuals squatting on the Nature Preserve grounds, an officer alerted the preserve supervisor.  The supervisor agreed to be watchful regarding the possible squatters.  

3:01 p.m. Officers received the report of fraudulent charges on a woman’s Valero gas card. 

3:22 p.m. An officer purchased fuel for an elderly lady who had run out of gas on West Broad Street. 

5:40 p.m. A business on Commerce Street reported a man is suspected of damaging equipment in the men’s room. No charges were filed. 

7:19 p.m. A 15-year old female runaway was located in La Porte, after a missing person’s report was filed. 

10:32 p.m. A resident on Graham Street reported she had water running all over the floor in her bathroom and needed assistance. An officer responded, turned the water off and recommended contacting a plumber. 

Oct. 16

6:47 a.m. An officer assisted EMS and First Responders at Fresenius Kidney Care. A patient was transported to the hospital.

7:54 a.m. A burglary was reported at an estate sale on English Street. This is under investigation.

5:57 p.m. A resident on West Buchanan Street reported several kids in her yard with bicycles, hitting her sprinklers. An officer spoke with the parents of the kids and advised them to stay off the resident’s yard.

6:46 p.m. An elderly woman stopped at the police department for assistance in operating her car’s headlights.

11:42 p.m. An officer assisted a female that was walking on North Pacific Street. She was given a courtesy ride to a residence on South Pacific Street.
