Mineola Police Report, Oct. 17-23

Oct. 17

4:02 a.m. Jessenia Garcia, 22, of Quitman, was stopped at N. Pacific and Blair St. for failing to maintain a single lane of traffic and was arrested for DWI.

7:55 a.m. A woman running at CR 2503 and FM 1254 said she saw a baby stroller with something in it. She stopped, and a man walked out of the woods wearing a trash bag and claimed the stroller, with trash in it. Officers could not find him.

10:05 a.m. A resident reported fraudulent charges on her debit card.

12:38 p.m. A man reported he left his cell phone in a restaurant and someone had taken it. The man described the person he thought took it. An officer stopped a male subject on a bicycle, taking pictures of women coming at a convenience store. The officer determined it was the stolen phone.

9:56 p.m. A resident on W. Kilpatrick St. reported her vehicle was hit while parked.

Oct. 18

7:12 a.m. A burglary of a vehicle was reported at a daycare facility on Newsom St. A woman left her vehicle running and unlocked, with an older child inside the vehicle, while she took her younger children inside. A white SUV drove up, occupied by a black male, and took the woman’s wallet.

8:23 a.m. A man reported that his daughter had been assaulted by her boyfriend. An officer spoke with a witness and attempted to locate the female. The female did not report the assault, and the officer did not find the alleged victim. An officer checked on her later, but she refused to cooperate.

9:44 a.m. A husband and wife were arrested for endangering a child. Floyd Dewayne Hughey, 39, and Carolyn Hughey, 35, of Mineola, were arrested on warrants involving their child who tested positive for methamphetamine. The investigation was turned over to the police department from CPS.

4:51 p.m. A woman reported leaving a cell phone at a convenience store on North Pacific St. Attempt to locate was unsuccessful.

11:01 p.m. Officers located several vehicles parked in the roadway on Second St. and observed at least 20 juveniles. Some fled on foot as the officers arrived. Parents were contacted to pick up the juveniles that had been drinking. The parents at the residence were reportedly asleep and had no knowledge of the crowd.

Oct. 19

1:38 a.m. An officer observed two juveniles at Walmart violating the curfew ordinance. The officer followed them to their residence at Lake Brenda and made contact with the parents.

4:55 a.m. A resident on East McDonald St. reported a man and woman trying to enter her residence. An officer did not find anyone around the residence. The officer received a call later from UT Health ER in Quitman for the resident stating she was stabbed in the foot by the man who entered her residence after the officer left in the early morning hours. The officer went to the emergency room and spoke with the alleged victim and determined the wound was old. While the officer was speaking with a witness at the emergency room, she was found to be wanted on a Dallas County warrant. Amanda Nicole Jackson, 34, Grand Prairie, was arrested for the warrant.

1:08 p.m. UT Health in Quitman called and advised they had a male in the ER that stated he had been in a fight at the VFW the night before and the injury required stitches. The subject did not wish to file a report, or file charges, and refused to cooperate.

1:38 p.m. An officer responded to a welfare concern for a man walking with a wagon with his dog in it. The man was sitting on the curb on South Pacific St., but the dog and wagon were in the roadway, causing vehicles to avoid it. The officer was unable to locate.

2:21 p.m. An officer responded to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot. The victim refused EMS and said he was OK.

4:41 p.m. Officers responded to an incident involving two neighbor kids on Graves St. An eight year old girl hit a seven year old boy in the head with a rock. The eight year old was OK and his mother requested the officer speak with the other parent, which the officer did.

6:25 p.m. Officers responded to the Mineola Youth Foundation for parents refusing to leave the ballpark after a dispute. One parent was trespassed from the ballpark by the Youth Foundation president.

6:39 p.m. A resident on NE Loop 564 reported a female at her residence who would not leave. An officer determined the female was a resident at Autumn Winds Assisted Living. She was transported to the facility by the officer.

6:50 p.m. Loud music was reported in the area of Heritage and Park Place Streets. The officer determined the noise to be a birthday party.

Oct. 20

12:15 a.m. Theft of a customer’s phone was reported at Walmart. The phone was pinged at a residence on East McDonald St. An officer recovered the phone. Charges are pending.

9:24 a.m. An officer assisted EMS at the Dollar Tree with a combative subject. The subject was transported to the hospital by EMS.

11:43 a.m. Kidd Jones reported a man getting fuel who appeared to be confused and had a young boy in the vehicle with a black eye. Officers and Wood County S.O. were unable to locate the vehicle.

12:04 p.m. A man reported someone had been inside his vehicle and broke a key off in the ignition while it was parked in a parking lot on Freeman St.

4:51 p.m. An officer responded to the train depot for a subject on the train without a ticket. The man was removed when the train arrived. The man had no money or place to go, so the officer took the man to the motel for the night through Ministerial Alliance.

9:48 p.m. A resident on Francis St. reported his wife hit him several times. Officers responded and determined the wife was already asleep. The husband refused to file charges and advised everything was fine. A family violence report was filed. No injuries were observed.

11:05 p.m. A resident on Nuss St. reported she was outside smoking when a vehicle drove up. When she went to the vehicle, she was assaulted by a male and female and they took her cell phone. This is under investigation. 

Oct. 21

3:50 p.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on West Blair St. The father reported his son assaulted him. Officers determined no injuries had occurred and no charges were filed. 

4:12 p.m. A man reported his wallet was missing after he left it on the bed of the pickup while getting fuel at EZ Mart.

4:26 p.m. A welfare concern was reported for a resident on Pat Dr. An officer responded and attempted to contact a family member. Adult Protective Services was contacted.

5:52 p.m. A welfare concern was reported for a man at Brookshire’s who smelled like alcohol and left with a child not restrained in a car seat. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle. Wood County S.O. was contacted.

7:14 p.m. A reckless driver was reported at FM 49 and Loop 564. Officers located the vehicle at a residence on Second St. and did not witness the man driving, but did speak with him.

Oct. 22

2:59 p.m. A theft was reported when the reporting party gave a ride to a woman. While the reporting party was getting fuel, the woman took cash from her vehicle and fled on foot. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. 

5:50 p.m. Officers responded to the train depot when a man was removed from the train because he did not have a ticket. The man was given a voucher to the motel from Ministerial Alliance. A ticket was purchased and the man caught the train the following morning.

9:36 p.m. A disturbance was reported at Murphy’s USA. Officers were told by two males that they had been fighting. Neither wanted to file charges and were not injured. One subject was issued a disorderly conduct citation.

Oct. 23

9:03 p.m. A resident on Stone St. reported a woman keeps coming to her residence and she does not want her there. The officer spoke with the woman and advised her to not go back to the residence.
