8:35 a.m. A purse was reported stolen at the laundry mat on N. Pacific St. after it was left behind. The couple’s passports and other IDs were stolen.

Mineola Police Report, Oct. 31 - Nov. 6

8:35 a.m. A purse was reported stolen at the laundry mat on N. Pacific St. after it was left behind. The couple’s passports and other IDs were stolen.

4:49 p.m. A hit and run was reported in the Walmart parking lot. A vehicle was damaged.

5:38 p.m. A fight between two men was reported in the Walmart parking lot. Officers determined one man opened the car door and hit the other vehicle. Both were cited for disorderly conduct.

6:25 p.m. An officer assisted EMS on a 2-year-old who was choking on Francis St. The child was taken to the hospital by EMS.

10:37 p.m. A resident on Francis St. reported his 14-year-old daughter left after the two got into an altercation. An officer located the teen at a residence next door. The teen reported that her father had assaulted her. Officers determined the father had disciplined her. The teen then reported the neighbor was inappropriate with her. The following morning investigators investigated the allegation and closed the case.

Nov. 1

8:14 a.m. A welfare concern was reported for a reckless driver at Blair and Wigley Streets. An officer stopped the vehicle and determined the driver to have a medical condition. EMS transported the driver to the hospital.

9:57 a.m. An officer assisted a beer truck that lost some beer at Pacific and Broad Streets. The beer was cleaned up.

11:03 a.m. A suspicious person was reportedly standing next to a water meter, looking at a laptop at University and Blair Streets. An officer determined the man was known and not causing an issue.

12:23 p.m. A man was reportedly walking in front of traffic on Johnson St. and using inappropriate hand gestures toward passersby. The officer located the man on another street shortly after but observed no issues.

1:50 p.m. Drug paraphernalia was found by the cleaning crew at a nursing home. It was turned over for disposal.

Nov. 2

6:35 a.m. An officer assisted Wood County S.O. on an assault call outside the city on Hwy. 80.

8:03 a.m. A deer was reportedly hit at W. Broad and Loop 564. A game warden was contacted to get the deer removed.

1:52 p.m. A reckless driver was reportedly swerving in and out of traffic on Hwy. 37 South toward Mineola. An officer stopped the vehicle on N. Pacific St. A citation was issued.

2:56 p.m. A pager was found at Walmart. The officer located the owner.

10:42 p.m. A loud party and music was reported on Second St. An officer had the resident turn down the music.

11:21 p.m. Loud music was reported again on Second St. An officer returned and the residents decided to shut down the party after a warning was issued.

11:55 p.m. A welfare concern for dogs being outside and barking was reported on Wood St. An officer responded to the area, but the dogs were already inside.

Nov. 3

2:24 a.m. An officer assisted Wood County S.O. on a traffic stop and arrest on Hwy. 69 North.

3:35 a.m. A welfare concern was reported for the driver of a vehicle at N. Pacific St. and Loop 564. The driver was unresponsive and doors were locked with the vehicle running. EMS was contacted. Officers forced entry into the vehicle. The driver consented to an alcohol test and passed it. He was taken to the hospital and submitted to a blood draw. The officer took the driver home and released him to his family. Possible charges are pending blood draw results.

4:56 p.m. A man reported his child’s mother had taken the child and was at the train depot trying to leave the state. An officer spoke with the woman. After speaking with both parties the situation was considered to be a civil matter.

9:46 p.m. A resident on N. Newsom reported hearing two women who appeared to be fighting. An officer spoke with two females at the car wash who denied being in a fight or argument.

9:49 p.m. An officer assisted Wood County by checking on an accident at Loop 564 and FM 49. The officer reported that someone had hit a deer and was waiting on a deputy.

9:55 p.m. Another call was received for two females fighting and the caller thought it was coming from the Chevron area. An officer responded and spoke with both females who again denied any fight. They were advised to keep the noise down.

Nov. 4

8:44 a.m. A suspicious person in a pickup was reported parked behind a vacant residence on Graham St. An officer and the homeowner located a man taking items out of the barn. Jared Wayne Blythe, 33, of Mineola was arrested for burglary of a building.

9:11 a.m. A business on W. Broad St. reported a push mower stolen from behind the building.

11:20 a.m. Criminal mischief to a vehicle was reported on Wigley St. The vehicle was keyed and the tires were cut. This is under investigation.

3:55 p.m. A suspicious person was reported at the back of a resident’s property on Nuss St. An officer determined the person to be a Realtor for the property behind the complainant. 

5:56 p.m. Officers responded to a death investigation on W. Buchanan. A 38 year old man was found deceased by his family. Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Tony Gilbreath pronounced the man deceased and ordered an autopsy. 

7:20 p.m. The manager at the train depot requested assistance with a civil situation. A female with a child was attempting to leave the state before the biological father found out. An officer was requested to keep the peace in case he showed up. The woman departed without incident.

8:11 p.m. A woman reported she was at the Mineola Country Club and her vehicle had been hit. This is under investigation.

Nov. 5

7:09 a.m. A welfare concern was reported for a driver of a truck pulling a cargo trailer that kept pulling to the shoulder. An officer stopped the vehicle when it arrived inside the city limits on W. Broad St. The driver was fine and reported he was pulling over to let people go by him.

8:20 a.m. A family member reported that another family member signed for certified mail that belonged to their mother. The officer determined this to be a civil matter since the Post Office allowed the family member to sign.

9:49 a.m. A disturbance was reported by a neighbor on Karen Lane. Officers spoke with the resident and found that she and her boyfriend got into a verbal altercation and he left prior to the officer’s arrival.

10:58 a.m. A woman reported that her vehicle was hit in the Walmart parking lot on the night of Oct. 31. 

1:11 p.m. A man reported finding pills on the sidewalk on Meredith St. An officer determined the pills to be salt pills.

6:57 p.m. The manager at the train depot requested rooms for two subjects who were having to stay overnight for the train and had no money. Ministerial Alliance provided for a motel room for the night.

8:56 p.m. A resident on W. Kilpatrick St. reported a known man in their yard under the bushes naked. The complainant reported she thought he went over the back fence. Officers responded, but the man had already left and went home. Officers went to the man’s home and he willingly went with EMS to the hospital.

10:45 p.m. A United States Corrections transport van stopped at the police department requesting assistance with transport inmates. A male inmate had got out of his restraints and broke into the female section of the van. All inmates were taken out of the van to assess the damage. The transport van left with the secured inmates at 12:35 a.m.

Nov. 6

8:49 a.m. Two juveniles reported to school and then left. Another juvenile was reported to be missing. Two of the juveniles were entered as runaways. The parents called in the afternoon and all juveniles were back home.

12:47 p.m. A Gladewater officer reported observing a male who appeared very upset getting in and out of a vehicle near the railroad crossing at Broad and Pacific Streets. An officer determined the passenger of one vehicle got in a verbal argument with the driver of another vehicle. One of the vehicles was already gone.

1:21 p.m. A resident at Peachtree and Mimosa Streets reported someone had hit a mailbox and ran through two yards. When an officer responded, the resident said she knew who it was and was going to work it out.

4:43 p.m. A reckless driver was reported on S. Pacific St. that passed a school bus and was traveling at a high rate of speed. A DPS trooper and a deputy from Wood County stopped the vehicle on Hwy. 69 South.

5:19 p.m. The manager at the Civic Center reported a vehicle that was speeding through the Civic Center and she requested an office to speak with them. An officer spoke with the teenager and called the parents.

9:18 p.m. A family member reported his granddaughter took her mother’s car without permission and requested the officer speak with his daughter about the incident. An officer spoke with the mother, but she reported that she gave the daughter permission to take the car.

9:37 p.m. A report was received in reference to people at the new basketball court at Wren and Goodson Circle being too loud. An officer responded and asked them to be quiet because of the residences close by.
