Mineola Police Report, Sept. 26 - Oct. 2

Sept. 26

7:51 a.m. A wallet was found at Walmart and returned to the owner.

8:58 a.m. A fraudulent check was reportedly passed at a bank on North Pacific Street. This is under investigation.

10:05 a.m. A phone was reported stolen from a restroom of a restaurant on North Pacific Street.

10:46 a.m. Officers assisted a stranded motorist on North Pacific Street.  The officers picked the female and her infant up and assisted them in refueling the vehicle. 

10:55 a.m. Methamphetamine was found inside a used cigarette package at a convenience store on South Pacific Street.  An officer took possession of the substance.

11:17 a.m. Officers arrested Cedric Wayne Mosley, 50, of Cedar Hill for possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. The arrest stemmed from the truck driver not following prescribed routes around Mineola. The trucking company had the loaded truck picked up by a wrecker company.

4:16 p.m. A runaway from Van Zandt County was located at Walmart. Officers released the juvenile to the parents.

7:40 p.m. Vandalism of a glass door was reported by a business on Greenville Avenue.

8:23 p.m. Following a Sept. 26 shooting incident on Karen Lane, Brian Lee Barnett, 42, of Alba, was arrested on Oct. 1 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Sept. 27

3:52 a.m. A resident on North Johnson Street reported an ex-roommate was banging on the window. An officer responded and spoke to both parties advising them this was a civil matter.

8:06 a.m. A resident on Greenville Avenue requested to speak with an officer regarding threats he had received.  Patrol frequency was modified as a result.

8:52 a.m. A criminal trespass compliant was received regarding an incident at a restaurant on West Broad.

9:01 a.m. A clerk at a convenience store on East Broad Street reported a man came in and made an alarming comment.  An officer responded and spoke with the clerk; the subject was not located.

10:24 a.m. Gunshots were reported on University Street.  It was determined that a science teacher was shooting bottle rockets for a class.

12:57 p.m. A ring was reported stolen from a resident by a private sitter at Autumn Winds Assisted Living. Charges are pending.

2:34 p.m. A resident on North Johnson Street reported harassment by a neighbor.

8:13 p.m. Officers responded to a verbal altercation between family members at Autumn Winds Assisted Living.

9:01 p.m. An officer checked on a motorist parked on the side of the roadway on South Pacific Street. The driver had a medical issue and pulled over for a few minutes. Moments later, an officer assisted a stranded motorist by helping push a vehicle to a gas station on North Pacific Street.

11:57 p.m. An officer observed two young males chasing another young male at Elliott and South Street. The two males stated they were chasing the other male because he stole money from them. Officers went to the accused’s residence and confronted him about the money he stole. The male denied stealing money from them and the other two decided not to pursue charges. 

Sept. 28

12:53 a.m. An officer assisted a father in locating his son at a residence on North Newsom Street. 

11:06 a.m. Jan Ellen Aron, 33, of Tyler, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and endangering a child, when she was stopped on a traffic violation on West Broad Street.  Courtney D’Ann Young, 24, of Tyler, was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

5:49 p.m. Julius Clay Francis, 19, of Lone Star, was arrested for consumption of alcohol by a minor in the vicinity of North Pacific and Cage streets.

9:22 p.m. Loud music was reported at a residence on Ivey Street. An officer responded and spoke with the resident. The music was turned down.

Sept. 29

8:11 a.m. Fernando Lagunas, 26, of Mineola, was arrested for no insurance, expired vehicle registration and failure to change an out of state driver’s license over 90 days. Lagunas was stopped for a traffic violation on North Pacific Street. 

6:20 p.m. A pair of prescription sunglasses was found at the Civic Center. The glasses remain at the police department.

7:42 p.m. Officers responded to a welfare concern of an elderly resident on Pat Drive. An officer responded and ensured that the resident was not left alone. 

Sept. 30

11:37 a.m. A skimmer device was recovered from a gas pump at a convenience store on South Pacific Street. This is under investigation with the assistance of a Smith County task force.

11:46 a.m. Two individuals were issued criminal trespass warnings at the Autumn Winds Assisted Living Center.

2:48 p.m. An officer met with a family that felt threatened by the actions of an estranged husband. 

3:30 p.m. A complaint of criminal mischief in the parking lot between Walmart and Whataburger was investigated. The incident is under investigation.

6:32 p.m. A disturbance was reported on West Patten St. An ex-girlfriend was in front of the ex-boyfriend’s residence and threatening to shoot him. Officers spoke with both parties. No weapon was found at the scene.

6:49 p.m. Loud music was reported at a carwash on East Broad Street. An officer responded to the location and had the person in the vehicle turn the music down.

7:02 p.m. Officers responded to a verbal altercation at a convenience store on North Pacific St.

Oct. 1

3:23 a.m. A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific Street. An officer identified the vehicle and did not observe a violation.

4:14 p.m. Children were playing in the street on West McDonald Street. An officer responded and instructed the children not to play in the street.

7:15 p.m. A family member reported her daughter was being harassed because of a snapchat photo another female posted. An officer responded and spoke with the female who posted the photograph and asked her to take it down.

9:40 p.m. A family member contacted the officer and advised the female that was asked to take down the photo did take down the photo, but posted a picture of the patrol unit at her residence and posted the name of the complainant’s daughter. The officer responded back to the residence and spoke with the female again.

Oct. 2

10:02 a.m. A resident on Goodson Circle reported that a known person was using her debit card without permission. This is under investigation.

11:54 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance on West Blair Street and recorded a family violence report. 

4:04 p.m. Tarin Archibald Nguyen, 39, of Mineola, was arrested for no insurance, operating a vehicle without a license plate and expired registration, after she was stopped on North Pacific Street for a traffic violation.

4:06 p.m. A helicopter has been landing on some property on South Pacific Street without permission from the land owners. An officer visited with the pilot at Best Western and advised him that he could not land on the property.

7:17 p.m. An officer Intervened in a dispute between two female shoppers.

7:43 p.m. Spotlighting from the County Road into the Nature Preserve was reported. A search for the suspects was unsuccessful.
