MHS team wins first at UIL district meet
Mineola High School won first place at the University Interscholastic League Academic District Meet at Grand Saline High school last Wednesday. The cross examination debate, journalism, speech and spelling and vocabulary teams also won district. The One Act Play also advanced from district.
The winners included Randi Brannan, calculator applications, second; Indiana Renaud, computer applications, fourth; Autumn Hill, editorial writing, first, spelling and vocabulary, third; Kayla Keith, editorial writing, third, spelling and vocabulary, first; Seth Hudgins, feature writing, first, number sense, second and Gracie Castleberry, feature writing, fourth.
Winners also included Aaron Stanford, feature writing, sixth; Kayleigh Sauer, headline writing, second; Nathan Witt, informative speaking, second; Russell Ballew, literary criticism, second; Austin Witt, news writing, first; Carter Mize, news writing, third, prose interpretation, second; Anthony Tresca, persuasive speaking, first, poetry interpretation, second and Ela Reinertsen, persuasive speaking , fourth.
More winners were Cameron Sorenson, persuasive speaking, fifth; Brian Lyke, poetry interpretation, fourth; Mallory Pruitt, prose interpretation, third; Lesli Gonzalez, physics, first; Juanita Ruiz, social studies, sixth; Alexis Newell, spelling and vocabulary, fourth and Lena Hughes, spelling and vocabulary, fifth.
