Mineola, Alba-Golden win bidistrict volleyball
The Mineola Lady Jackets took the bidistrict volleyball championship Thursday night in Paris, stopping the Hooks Lady Hornets in four games.
Alba-Golden won its match against James Bowie in five games, 21-25, 25-17, 25-14, 23-25, 15-9.
Mineola built a 19-10 lead in game one only to have Hooks rally to get within 24-23 before Mineola took the 25-23 win.
Hooks led game two by as many seven points before Mineola tied it at 17. Hooks won the game 25-20 to even the match.
Mineola took control of game three after it was tied 8-8 and grabbed a six-point lead before Hooks came back to make it 21-19. Again Mineola closed it out 25-20.
The Lady Jackets dominated the fourth and deciding game 25-14 to move on to the area championship against Tatum Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Whitehouse.
Alba-Golden will take on Gary, a four-game winner over Union Grove, on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. at Tyler Chapel Hill.
