Mineola ISD school board held a special meeting Thursday, Nov. 14, to review and discuss resumes received for the superintendent position.

The board has received resumes from 45 applicants, exceeding the expectations of 30-40.

To give an absent board member a chance to review the applications, the board did not decide on who or how many they will be interviewing.

The board continued reviewing the applications in closed sessions before and after Monday’s regular board meeting.

The first round of interviews will be conducted during the first week of December. The second round will be the second week of December. No applicants’ names will be released until the lone finalist is revealed. The school board and public will have a 21-day period to research the finalist before a vote to hire and a contract is approved.

Interim Superintendent Randy Hancock has been filling the position since the resignation of Dr. Kim Tunnell on Aug. 22. The start date of the new superintendent will be on or before Feb. 3.
