MISD superintendent search narrowed to six

Mineola ISD board of trustees have narrowed down the 45 superintendent applications to six candidates. The first round of interviews was held Dec. 2, 3, and 5.

Candidates will be further narrowed down to two or three, and the second round of interviews will be held next week.

The lone finalist for the position of MISD superintendent should be announced at the Dec. 16 regular school board meeting. At such time, a 21-day period to research the finalist will be begin before a vote to hire or contract approval.

The new superintended will start on or before Feb. 3, taking the place of interim Superintendent Randy Hancock.

Hancock has been filling the position since Sept. 23 after the sudden resignation of Dr. Kim Tunnell in August.
