MLOTA quilt show Oct. 11-12

Mineola League of the Arts (MLOTA) will be hosting its annual quilt show, a fundraiser for the quilting guild, on Oct. 11-12. The theme this year is “My Favorite Holiday.”

Judging will take place Thursday, Oct. 10, with ribbons being awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division. Special awards include Meredith Foundation, Mayor’s Choice, Fiber Arts Award, MLOTA Memorial and Judge’s Choice.

Friday and Saturday, 77 quilts will be on display. Everyone is invited to view the quilts and see who won.

MLOTA will also be selling raffle tickets to win one of the quilts, a handmade work of art. Winner need not be present to win.

The League Gift Shop will be open with MLOTA members handiwork, craft items and fine art work for sale. A portion of the sales will be donated to MLOTA to help fund their many programs throughout the year.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
