Nancy Hannah Paul Peebles 1929-2021

Services for Nancy Hannah Paul Peebles, 91, of Golden were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021 at Sand Springs Baptist Church, Mineola, with Bro. Jim Parker, Bro. Jerry Jackson and Bro. Brandon Gray officiating.

Interment followed in Cedars Memorial Gardens, Mineola.

Nancy Hannah Paul Peebles passed away Sept. 15, 2021. She was born in LaFollette, Tenn. Nov. 25, 1929 to the late George Emory Paul and Myrtle Marie Marcum Paul. Nancy was the oldest of 11 siblings. She married (Milton Lee) Buddy Peebles on May 29, 1952, in Fredericksburg, Va. In addition to being a full-time mother and housewife, she worked in Mineola for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and Davenport’s Variety Store along with Buddy until 1960. Nancy also worked for Wood Memorial Nursing Home. Nancy was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church and served as secretary and treasurer in the 1950s. After her husband Buddy retired, they moved to Golden in 1973.

Survivors include daughter, Becky Kilborn and husband James L. of Golden; son, (Milton Lee II) Bubba Peebles and wife Martha of Alba; daughter, Angie Wright and husband Greg of Golden; brothers, George Earl Paul of Frederick, Md., Roger Wallace Paul and wife Thelma of Andersonville, Tenn., Lawrence Paul and wife Anna of LaFollette, Tenn.; sisters, Geraline Smith of Dayton, Ohio, Anna Lou Oglesby of Tyler, Juanita Smith and husband Lloyd of Andersonville, Tenn., and sister-in-law, Geneva Walton of Mineola; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Buddy Peebles; sisters, Nannie Lee Fisher, Mable Violet and Sandra Ivey; brother, James Walter (Jimmy) Paul; and son-in-law, Adam Lee Steele.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
