New Waverly fisherman wins top prize at Big Bass Splash

A New Waverly angler took home the Grand Champion honors with a 10.61 pound catch made Sunday morning during the 8 a.m. hour. Blake Harvey’s catch netted him the Big Bass Splash first place prizes which included a 2019 Triton 19 TrX powered by Mercury equipped with Lowrance, Navionics and Power Pole along with a 2019 Dodge Ram truck plus $7,000 in cash.

Jimmy Qualls of Euless took second place with a catch of 10.06 pounds. Qualls won $2,000 in cash, a 2019  Triton 18 TrX powered by Mercury and a 2019 Dodge Ram truck. Coming in third place with a catch of 9.77 pounds was Burl Bossier of Abilene, who took home a 2019 Triton 18 TrX powered by Mercury plus $1,000 in cash.

Brian Bigby of Colmesneil, earned $8,000 for a catch of 9.32 pounder and a fourth place finish while finishing in fifth place and winning $6,000 was Carl Parks of Hemphill, with a bass weighing in at 9.25 pounds.

In Little Anglers competition Jaykob Netherland of New Diana, won the bass division with a catch of 1.79 pounds. Griffin Blundell of Gilmer was first in the perch division with a catch of .41 pounds. Winning the catfish division with a catch of 5.09 pounds was Logan Gaitan of Whitehouse and Hudson Blundell of Gilmer won the crappie division with a catch of 1.46 pounds.

Over 2,500 anglers hit the waters of Lake Fork.
