Next symphony performance set

The next concert by the Lake Country Symphonic Band in Mineola will be Sunday, Oct. 6 and Tuesday, Oct. 8. The Sunday concert will begin at 2 p.m. and the Tuesday night performance will be at 7:30 p.m. The concert, titled “Make Mine Music!,” will feature music from “Game of Thrones,” “Titanic” and the sweeping theme from the John Wayne film, “The Cowboys,” composed by John Williams. Also on the program will be the world premiere of “Dracula,” a tone poem written by LCSB member Kelly Bennette. Joining the band will be pianist Jennifer Turner for a performance of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.”

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children 11 and under. Reservations are absolutely essential as these concerts sell out. You can make reservations by calling the box office at 903-569-2300. The box office will open one hour prior to the performance, with doors opening 30 minutes before.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
