Nora Hill McKenney, 1928-2021

Nora Hill McKenney, 92, of Mineola passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021 in Mineola. She was born on July 1, 1928 in Chattory, Wash. to the late Daniel Hanks Hill and Ollie Gertrude Unzicker Hill. 

Nora was the first in her family to graduate from Ferdinand High School in 1947. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital Nursing School in Lewston, Idaho. While in nursing school she contracted polio but still graduated in 1951. She married Lindel Eugene McKenney on July 11, 1952 in Lewiston, and they moved to Texas in 1967. She worked as a registered nurse at Mineola General Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mineola and was preceded in death by her husband, Lindel Eugene McKenney, and brothers and sisters, Harry, Jack, John, Anna, Cora, Martha, Helen, Ruth and Leona. 

She is survived by daughters, Linda Jean McKenney Haddock, Particia Ann McKenney, Sharon Lee McKenney Horton and Danna Marie McKenney; six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Private graveside service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 at New Hope Cemetery FM 2422 in Mineola at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jay Horton conducting.
