Funeral services for Ommie Lee Gilbreath, 84, of Whitehouse, were Saturday, July 20 at Lowe Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Gage officiating. Burial was to be at Rock Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Gilbreath died Wednesday, July 17, 2019, in Tyler.

Mrs. Gilbreath was born Jan. 6, 1935, in Quitman to J. and Roxie Marie (Poe) Meredith. She was a Whitehouse resident for 13 years and lived at the Villages in Florida for five years prior.

Mrs. Gilbreath was a traveler and lived many places. Upon graduating from Quitman High School, she met and married Gary Marvin Gilbreath, and the two moved to Kilgore, Palestine, and New Orleans. Upon retirement they bought an RV and traveled the United States for 13 years. She visited almost every state and traveled overseas. Mr. Gilbreath passed away in 2004, but if he was still here, the two would still be traveling. Lee retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad and also owned a business making Sir Turtle rum bottles that are sold in the Cayman Islands.

She loved jewelry, making jewelry, and shopping. She also enjoyed music and reading. At one point, her husband joked that she was weighing down their RV with all of the books she had. She was a member of Lane’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Tyler for over 30 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Gilbreath; daughter, Renah Gilbreath; son, Randy Gilbreath; and brother, John Earl Meredith.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Leia Rachelle Oller of Whitehouse; brother, Scott Meredith of Magnolia; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
