The Mineola Country Club held the inaugural Veterans Day Golf Tournament on Friday at the country club. The tournament saw 54 participants in three-person teams that included two veterans each.

According to Jim Morgan, the tournament is the brain-child of Loy Frazier, Gene Stowe, Robert Tullis and Morgan himself.

“We wanted to do something to honor our veterans and have a little fun,” Morgan said. “The tournament was a success and we hope to continue it going forward.”

The tournament saw three teams place in the top three. The team of Elroy Doggett, Greg Bartz and Moe Jarvis placed first with a score of 57 (14 under par). Blackie Marks, Lou Diaz and Robert Linker placed second with a score of 60 (11 under).

There were two teams that tied for third place. With a score of 61 (10 under), the teams of Billy Webb Sr., Ray Black and Stan Kinstley and Jim Morgan, Ron Ihler and Dave Radcliff rounded out the top three of the tournament.
