The Alba-Golden Panthers enjoyed two big innings in recording a 14-6 win over the Lone Oak Buffaloes on April 19. Alba-Golden scored five runs in the first inning and five runs in the fourth to secure the victory.

Panther Jacob Dailey threw six innings, giving up seven hits with seven strike outs and five walks.

Lone Oak set the table for Alba-Golden in the first. The first three Panthers reached base on free passes: two batters were hit by pitches and the third issued a walk. Boedy Baker lined a ball to left-center field, which went for a double and scored three runs. After Tom Mitchell was gunned down at the plate trying to score following a throwing error, infield hits by Blake Weissert and Ford Tannenbaum pushed two more runs home.

Alba-Golden put runners on in the second and third innings but could not bring them in. In the second, Dailey was cut down at home trying to score from a Baker base hit. In the third, the Panthers stranded Mitchell at third.

Kason Trimble started the Panthers’ big fourth inning with a single to right field. Base hits by Braden Reynolds, Dalton Hendrix and Tannnenbaum provided the offensive power. Lone Oak graciously provided two free passes and an error.

Dailey threw a great first four innings. He faced only 14 batters. In the fifth, Lone Oak began to gauge his delivery and they cracked three consecutive singles to push their first run across.

Alba-Golden added three runs in the sixth. Hendrix started the rally by beating out the throw to first base after a dropped third strike. Baker, who went 3-for-3 on the night followed with a single. Lone Oak gifted three free passes and an error in the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth Lone Oak loaded the bases on two walks and an error and cleared the bases with a triple. Alba-Golden scored once in the seventh and Lone Oak twice to close the game.
