Patsy Allen, 1939-2019

Patsy Ruth Allen was born March 11, 1939 in Hillsboro, Texas. She had been a resident of Mineola since 1980 and was a member of First United Methodist Church. In earlier years, she worked for Dallas Times Herald, and more recently, worked as the manager for Mineola Civic Center.

Patsy passed away at the age of 80 on May 20, 2019 in Quitman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Allen; parents, Oides Chaney Birdwell & Mable Marzell Pritchett Birdwell; brothers, Jimmie Birdwell and Oides Everette; and sisters, Sue Anderson and Mary Stroud.

Survivors include her three sons, Rod Allen of Mineola, Jason Allen and wife, Angie of College Station, and Zachary Allen of Mineola; four brothers, Joel Birdwell, Ronnie Birdwell, Billy Birdwell and Tim Birdwell; sisters, Debbie Heckathorn and Kim Valdez; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
