Peggy Ann Coker, 1946-2021

Services for Peggy Ann Coker, 74, of Alba were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Parker officiating.

Ms. Coker passed away Oct. 25, 2021 in Tyler. She was born Dec. 18, 1946 in Kaufman County to Thomas Benton and Minnie Opal Whittenburg Coker. Peggy spent the last 35 years in Rains and Wood Counties where she was a member of Bright Star Baptist Church in Alba. She had worked for First National Bank of Emory in Alba, CNB in Mineola and for Mineola ISD. Ms. Coker was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Angie Hunter Hisaw; brother, Thomas Coker; sisters, Janice Honeycutt and Carrie June Honeycutt; and ex-husband, Larry Looney.

Survivors include her daughter, Lorie Hunter of Golden; sister, Lynda Morris of Hartford, Conn.; four grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2021 at the funeral home.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
