Pilot Club presents gifts to sheriff’s office
Mineola Pilot Club members Joyce Curry and Diane Holmes delivered 39 “Pick-Me-Up” baskets to Wood County Sheriff’s Office in appreciation of their 18 year partnership with the Pilot Club’s Project Lifesaver.
Deputy Jim Rapp, Dispatch Supervisor Kari Robertson and Lt. Melissa Pollard accepted the gifts on behalf of the department.
In 2003, Wood County Pilot Club and WSCO established Project Lifesaver in the area. Since that time, they have worked together to provide continued protection for individuals who are at-risk for wandering.
Sufferers of brain-related challenges such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, Down syndrome and other developmental disorders are provided with watch-like tracking bracelets. The transmitters assist caregivers and local emergency agencies in locating the individual quickly and effectively if they become lost.
