Plea in drug case yields probation
Daniel Lynn Williams of Hawkins was sentenced to 10 years probation in 402nd District Court Thursday, Jan. 26 by District Judge Brad McCampbell.
Williams had entered a guilty plea on Dec. 8 for possession of a controlled substance penalty group one (PG1) less than one gram, a state jail felony.
His 10 year prison sentence was suspended for 10 years of community supervision with 160 hours of community service, a $1,000 fine and $290 in court costs.
Dean Leroy Hoffman pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance PG1 one gram or more but less than four, a third degree felony, and received a deferred adjudication with five years of community supervision, 160 hours of community service and $290 in court costs.
Thomas Andrew Fitzgerald of Winnsboro pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance PG1 four grams or more but less than 200, second degree felony. He received six years in state prison with 218 days credit for time served, plus a $1,000 fine and $290 court costs. He also received a three-year prison sentence for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, to be served concurrently.
