Dear editor:

In some ways it wasn’t that many years ago that the Yellow Jackets managed to go winless and score but 19 points in a single season.

I remember a particular school board member talking about “the good old days” while asking over and over, why couldn’t Mineola have more success than the district was having?

Now those days have been surpassed and there are new good old days to be talked about in the years to come.

Congratulations to Joe Drennon, his entire staff, and most importantly to the student athletes who paid the price through dedication and hard work, to give themselves and their community something to remember for the remainder of their lives and beyond.

Just think of this... from winless to a State Championship.

It simply doesn’t get much better than that.
